The Crossingby PaulComment: Nice:) I almost want a version without the real foot, just the reflection image. Still, this is interesting. |

The Offeringby SimmsComment: I find this an evocative image. Even without the title, I would read the "story" of the image of an "offering" from the younger person (daughter-in-law???) to the elder (mother-in-law???). Like the tight composition. I think great choice for B&W; making an assumption that the colors of the clothes would distract from the exchange/activity of the hands. Nice image. |

From the Lightby timfythetooComment: A contemplative mood having the boy close his eyes (or looking down). An angelic feel with the high key treatment. Wonderful image. |

It's "time" (6 PM) for California Rollsby AllenPComment: I like the composition, the symmetry of the pic. I think it needs better lighting though. The white balance seem a bit on the warm side... but I like the concept of your pic. |

Salmon Pastaby dsp6860Comment: Since folks in the forums complain about not getting comments, I'll offer this critique, so take it for what it's worth.
Generally, I like the image. It looks like you actually took time to prepare a good looking dish. However, the lighting looks just a bit flat. The fork and knife placed in front of the plate, in front of the salmon distracts from the main part of the meal. Also, since the salmon and the pasta are the main part of the meal, perhaps tilt/(spin) the plate slightly clockwise so that the salmon and the pasta are on the same plane to get/keep the salmon and pasta in focus with your shallow DOF. Not a deal breaker for the photo, but maybe get rid of the mat because the lines of the mat and the outline of the mat may be distracting to some. If you feel inclined to have the knife and fork in the picture, perhaps have them at the side of the plate (OOF) as an "accessory" item. Hope this helps (just one viewer's opinion). |

Summer Salad With Roast Beef, Figs, Tomatoes and Arugulaby bubeltrubelComment: I like this pic because it is well lit. I'm thinking you put some thought into the composition to fill the frame without having a cluttered background to distract. I do like the background items (part of a wine glass, greens, and bowl of bread as well as the closer napkin and fork) as "accessories" that help "promote" the main dish. Good use of shallow DOF also to accentuate the main dish. Very well presented. FWIW, this image helps me to conceptualize using various technique in making a good picture of this type. |
