Jagged Little Pillby sofapComment: Unlike some of the other viewers, i do know what this is. But like them I am very distracted by some of the burnt ou highlights. i read your profile, so I know you are professional photographer. This means you must have done this on purpose, but my question would be.... why? |

"Tack" y Colorby TruegshtComment: Comment:
Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The funky colors are what makes this photo special. As one voter put it, the colors make the tacks seem to glow. The scene is also very interesting, making this a photograph that keeps the attention of the viewer for a long period of time. The longer one looks at it, the more interesting details come to light. This is a photograph that would not do as well in a thumbnail view, as many of the really interesting details are lost.
(2) BACKGROUND The background is perfect for this photograph, and the colors of the background are mirrored in the tacks themselves. This serves to tie the whole work together.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is very strong. I wish the tacks were just a little sharper (focus) as this is the one small area that bothers me.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL
The color cast to everything puts a surreal feeling into the photograph, as well as adding to the feeling of unreal. The surreal feeling is almost like pulling the viewer into a dream world. This is one of the dominate aspects of this photograph.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very good photograph. I could see it hanging on the wall in many homes. The colors are exquisit. |

Hammered!by FleximusComment: Comment:
Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The diagonal lines of hammer really draw the eye into the frame. This along with the strong use of rule of thirds makes a very powerful composition. The motion blur of the hammer adds a very strong point of interest and really makes the photo work.
(2) BACKGROUND The shallow DOF adds to the interest of the photo by isolating the important elements... the hand and the screw.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is very strong.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL There is only one change that I might suggest. The white balance on your camera was not set for the proper color. Although this gives you a very interesting shot, I would be interested to see what it would look like with the proper white balance.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE I might get nit picky and tell you that the item in question is not a tack, but you heard that from most of your commentors.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO Interesting shot that gets better the longer one looks at it. Thank you for sharing your vision. |

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The diagonal lines of the tacks really draw the eye into the frame. This along with the strong use of rule of thirds makes a very powerful composition. The lighting is also a very strong point here, the colors of the tacks against such a rich dark background really works.
(2) BACKGROUND I really like the darkness of the background. That really makes the tacks in the foreground really "pop".
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is very strong.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL There is only one change that I might suggest. The DOF you have used makes some of the tacks in the back a little soft. I am not sure if it would change for the better or worse to have them sharp. Might be worth an experiment.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very strong photo and i see that the voters agreed. Nice finish for a very humorous and well done photograph. |

Grass Tacksby puzzledComment: Comment:

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. The diagonal lines of grass really draw the eye into the frame. This along with the strong use of rule of thirds makes a powerful composition. You have also use the other "rule of thirds" by having 3 tacks in the scene, and have added additional depth by cutting a couple of them on the edges of the frame. The longer one looks at it, the more interesting details come to light. This is a photograph that would not do as well in a thumbnail view, as many of the really interesting details are lost.
(2) BACKGROUND I like the use of a shallow DOF as it isolated the subject.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is very strong.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL The colors seem a bit muted and I wonder what could be changed by increasing the contrast and playing with the saturation a little bit.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO I love the textures in this photograph. This is a photo that gets more interesting the longer you look at it.

Tacks Dayby TommyMoe21Comment: Comment:

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Well composed. It is almost reminiscent of a photo of many CDs, and only upon closer inspection the real subject is revealed. The scene is also very interesting, making this a photograph that keeps the attention of the viewer for a long period of time. The longer one looks at it, the more interesting details come to light. This is a photograph that would not do as well in a thumbnail view, as many of the really interesting details are lost.
(2) BACKGROUND This is really not as issue with this photograph, as the subject and background are one.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is good. Composition is strong.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL The blue cast to everything puts a surreal feeling into the photograph, as well as adding to the feeling of cold. The surreal feeling is almost like pulling the viewer into a dream world. This is one of the dominate aspects of this photograph.
(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.
(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photograph that needs more than the typical 2 second viewing. I love the random chaos of it all. |
