Late Fall- C&O Canal

Clara, I have never seen the canal so photogenic. I tried many times to get a good photo there and failed miserably. You have captured the essence of the C&O.

I would hate to run into him in the woods. That is one angry bear. The details are very sharp and clear, from the fur to the teeth. Nicely done.

I absolutely love how the long and wild looking mane covers the horses eyes. Colors are great, DOF is perfect.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The lighting on this seems rather flat. I think the use of a flash was not in the best interest of the image. Sometimes a little bit of shadowing tends to give the image a more 3 dimentional feeling.

CHALLENGE: You have met the cell phone part of the challenge, but as most of your commenters pointed out, you are missing a person.

TECHNICAL: I guess this just seems too flat to spark much interest from most of the voters.

CONCLUSION: A very cute idea, but the execution leaves a little to be desired. We have all posted challenge entries like this. Please take this as a learning tool, and get back in there and enter again and again.

Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges!

FIRST IMPRESSION: This is more of a snapshot, but I realize you did not set out to "set this up". Sometimes candids, such as this can work, and in this case it does.

CHALLENGE:This definately meets the challenge and in some ways exceeds it. He could have been talking on his police radio, but instead is using his cell phone.

COMPOSITION: The policeman seems to be at a little bit of and angle. This is a little disturbing to the eye as we tend to want thing straight. The top of the head in the corner is a bit distracting as well. Is it possible you could have cropped it out without losing the intent of the photo?

TECHNICAL: The shadows are a bit dark and distracting, but I realize that is because of time of day and the candid aspect of the photogrtaph.
You colors are nice and bright, you whites are dazzling without being blown out. Your DOF is appropriate for this image. Technically there are no glaring problems here.

CONCLUSION: A good interpretation of the challenge, well shot and executed. I gave this a 6 during voting.

Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges!

This is a wonderful candid. Some of my favorite shots come from being in the right place at the right time. Well done.

PS I especially like the way he is gently holding her veil. Such a simple, yet moving gesture.
