Couple by the Fountain

Great idea, wonderful subject, but the fountain dominates this shot. Saving grace, the couple does stand out and the fountain is beautiful. I would have preferred more of the subject.
One of the biggest downfalls in the digital photography world is the loss of detail in background subjects. This media doesn't have the complete depth of field that film has.

I tried really, really hard to not discount this shot due to the nature of digital. Expressed at a much higher resolution, this would have been a 10 ++

Subject's face is a bit too dark, otherwise a pretty nice shot. Good focus, shot has interest, but I have to ask Why NOT in LIVING COLOR?

Good concept. Color is a bit off. Look at the subject's arm, did you have it in the freezer prior to this shot? Did you have room to get closer to the crack to expose more of your subject?

Another Form of Self-Discovery

Clever, good surprise and interest, but ......As a "people" shot, this leaves lots to be desired. The focus, lighting, and even the water droplets on the faucet are great touches, but I have such a hard time giving high scores to partial people shots like this one.
My interpretation of PEOPLE includes more than just enough features to be able to figure out that it is a person. You have a great idea here that is very well done. Clever ideas get good scores, but meeting the challenge completely gets TOP scores. O.K?

Plant color is very good, but the man's nose is RED, arm is pink and blurred. I don't know what to suggest, keep trying, it's almost there!

O.K. composition, good contrast, but here's the nits: The subject appears to be the boat (see title), but the boat is not easily viewable and is cut off, then there's the challenge issue (people). The man does appear to be the real focus of this photo, so back to the title (why)?

Good photo, great focus, etc. maybe it's your software, but the contrast seems a bit low. Arm skin appears almost washed out, more like shades of grey, rather than black and white.

I don't buy this as people, the main focus of this shot (IMO) is a relatively empty airport. Basically, an O.K. pic, but nothing grabs me. At least ask the man to help you, and sit him facing you, or find a large group of milling, waiting people.

Focus is on the shadow, very cool! Too bad you could get both the subject and the shadow in focus together. I am having a hard time scoring this one fairly. It's just too cool!!!
