The sky is great, the tree silhouette is fantastic, the light shining through the window is inspiring and without the title, I would never have any idea of this structure's age (the stated point of the challenge). I am going to raise your score from 6 to 8, but only because this is a truly fantastic photograph. Swash |

| 08/07/2002 01:23:00 PM | Fanasaurus Rexby MagsCoyoteComment: Cute title, but in my opinion is off the mark for this challenge. The model is reasonably new thing that is representing a very old thing. To me the challenge was to emphasize the "oldness". It's a fine shot, but not a GREAT shot, sorry. 5 Swash |
| 08/08/2002 05:43:00 PM | Old Burial Hillby sgtpepper6344Comment: This is sooooo good! I like the stone at an angle, off in the distance, otherwise, I would have asked you to crop to THE stone (the gravestones to the left are just a little distracting). The only other suggestion I might offer would be about the time of day, the words on the gravestone might have appeared slightly easier to read if the sun were on them, instead of behind them. This is great work! 9 Swash |
| 08/07/2002 07:01:00 PM | A Tricycle for the agesby jimmspComment: Most of a nice picture...what happened to the rest of the tryk? (front and one rear tire and handlebars cut off) In my opinion, the subject/background are too close in color value for a good black and white photo. Suggestion: turn the bike 90 degrees and use the boardwalk as your background, it shows up really good against the planks and take a step back and get the whole subject. 6 Swash |
| 08/09/2002 07:43:00 PM | Used & kept since 1898by pclongComment: Can we re-think your title? If you use money, it goes away, if you don't use money, doesn't it stay in your pocket (or whatever?) Next, most of the coins appear worn (more argument against your wording of the title). Sorry to pick on the title so much..... It's a good shot of the coins, but the penny is out of time/place. Buffalo head nickle would have been O.K. 7 Swash |

| 08/07/2002 02:11:00 PM | Look At Me Againby quarxComment: Were you attempting to draw my attention to the seed pod in the lower left? There is "extra" light there and the focus seems to be on that area most strongly. I would have preferred a wider focal range to include all of the grass. The title confuses me, sounds a little desparate.....6 Swash |
