I like your additions of the water bucket and "spare plants", very funny. I could have wished you had weeded a bit more.....(joke) and (just because other's thought of a similar idea, don't put up with any cliche comments...good job!) 8 Swash | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/21/2002 06:47:00 PM | Back to School Hybridby shedevilComment: Pumkin or swash? Very nice idea. Good focus, lighting and I like the framing. Too bad the background is almost the same as the tree trunk, but I'm not going to lower your score for that. I would just remind you to watch your backgrounds in the future. 8 Swash |
| 08/21/2002 07:09:00 PM | The Photographer's Museby JakComment: This is an interesting shot, but I wish I could read the comments in the book. It's close, but not quite readable. I like the sun spots on the table and paper, nice touch to place the shavings in the brighter one. Nit: two water rings towards the back of the table (see, really nitty!) Would it have been possible to pull everything towards you a couple of touches? I think the off the table stuff is more distracting that additional, but in this frame, that couldn't be cropped off. 8 Swash |
| 08/15/2002 03:18:00 PM | The new settlersby gja2600Comment: What was wrong with the old settlers? (pun on your title) The busy, busy background is very distracting, focus is a bit soft around the edges, and you caught yourself in the frame. I like the shadow across the forehead of the man's silhouette, makes it look like he has a hat on. 7 Swash |

| 08/15/2002 07:03:00 PM | New York Yankeesby MagsCoyoteComment: I know this was suggested in the forums....but if I held a sign that said new on it and took a self portrait, would you score me highly? (hint: see my last name in my profile, and I am the youngest child in my family) O.K. all that said, this is a very nice photo of a baseball game. I do object to cutting off the pitcher and the lower 1/8 of the shot seems too dark, but have a nice day anyway. 7 Swash |
| 08/15/2002 07:32:00 PM | Apartment 24F just got its first windowby BeeGeeComment: Cute title, is that really apt. 24F? (Seems more like office space) I like how you included the crane, but I don't see the window, is it off frame or already off the crane's strap? Very nice blue sky. Challenge well met. 8 Swash |
| 08/14/2002 07:38:00 PM | Desperate Submissionby antonabayaComment: Don't say desparate, try hopeless... (just joking!) Use a Maglite? Good effect shot. I think it would have been a touch more successful if the nice lady could have kept still for the entire shot or been naked. So, you have four legs...How's that working out for you? (more joke) 7 Swash (not bad for a desparate situation!) |
| 08/16/2002 07:48:00 PM | New House on the blockby Frank BeckmanComment: Beautiful sunset, too bad the challenge made you put a house under construction in front of it. (I hope you took a spare w/o the house!) The wood is very well photographed, but I honestly don't like it covering the sunset. Still 9... Swash | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/14/2002 05:02:00 PM | Fresh Coatby JEFFCOWLESComment: This is one of the finest shots of something totally uninteresting that I have ever seen. I can very honestly say, I have never seen a post so well depicted. (I read this, it sounds sarcastic, but I really mean it.) Nearly the rule of thirds, but seems closer to two fifths, to me. Was the paint still wet? (joking...) 7 Swash |
