Pumkin or swash? Very nice idea. Good focus, lighting and I like the framing. Too bad the background is almost the same as the tree trunk, but I'm not going to lower your score for that. I would just remind you to watch your backgrounds in the future. 8 Swash

This is an interesting shot, but I wish I could read the comments in the book. It's close, but not quite readable. I like the sun spots on the table and paper, nice touch to place the shavings in the brighter one. Nit: two water rings towards the back of the table (see, really nitty!) Would it have been possible to pull everything towards you a couple of touches? I think the off the table stuff is more distracting that additional, but in this frame, that couldn't be cropped off. 8 Swash

What was wrong with the old settlers? (pun on your title) The busy, busy background is very distracting, focus is a bit soft around the edges, and you caught yourself in the frame. I like the shadow across the forehead of the man's silhouette, makes it look like he has a hat on. 7 Swash

I know this was suggested in the forums....but if I held a sign that said new on it and took a self portrait, would you score me highly? (hint: see my last name in my profile, and I am the youngest child in my family) O.K. all that said, this is a very nice photo of a baseball game. I do object to cutting off the pitcher and the lower 1/8 of the shot seems too dark, but have a nice day anyway. 7 Swash

I think it would have been a touch more successful if the nice lady could have kept still for the entire shot or been naked. So, you have four legs...How's that working out for you? This is one of the finest shots of something totally uninteresting that I have ever seen. I can very honestly say, I have never seen a post so well depicted.
