As a baseball fan, I enjoy the symmetry of this picture and it was cool how you captured the ball in motion.

Yup, I definately see the reference to new. I like the photo very much, you even got the ball half way from the pitcher to the batter. If the photo were turned slightly counter clockwise, it would be a little more balenced. You did a very nice job with this photo. I actually just attended my very first baseball game on Thursday, so I think it's neat. Good luck with the challenge.

You do realise this is one of the oldest teams around? Some of the things on the bottom are distracting, maybe you should crop a little bit.

nice

Great image... not sure i like the ultimate crop; would like to see the mound in its entirety. Don't think it meets the challenge. 3 sjgleah

Nice picture but the challenge was to take a picture of something new, not something with the initial ("N") of the word "new" in it.

This is cool. I like the perspective. Too bad you weren't a little higher up to get rid of the people at the bottom of the frame. For me, this may have worked a little better if it were framed vertically to get the pitcher's ful body in frame instead of just his legs and provide more depth (sense of where the ball will be going after hit).

Awesome perspective! Overall excellent composition. Give ya a 9!

I know this was suggested in the forums....but if I held a sign that said new on it and took a self portrait, would you score me highly? (hint: see my last name in my profile, and I am the youngest child in my family) O.K. all that said, this is a very nice photo of a baseball game. I do object to cutting off the pitcher and the lower 1/8 of the shot seems too dark, but have a nice day anyway. 7 Swash

Nice shot...If you could have gotten it without the guys heads at the bottom it'd be perfect-o. But still a great anyway like it is..

great compostion. very cool. i think i would have tried cropping out the pitcher and pitcher mound.
08/15/2002 11:28:00 AM
Although not really new (which I was inclined to take somewhat seriously), I think the composition here is fabulous, as is the vantage point.

Boooooooo! No yankees on Cablevision! I ought to give ya a 1! (j/k)
Ok, being a new yorker myself I can make the connection.

The Yankees? New? that's a stretch.....
08/14/2002 12:44:00 PM
nice shot. good regional play on challenge!

This is a fantastic shot. It really has everything, drama, action and tension. The angle is great and it's technically great… But, I think the challenge link is a bit weak…

Yanks RULE!
08/13/2002 10:20:00 PM
Cool picture, but I'm a Dodgers fan. And aren't the Yankees an old team? The Rockies or something might be a little newer...
08/13/2002 03:40:00 PM
Looks like a strike over the outside corner...

Normally I'm not a big fan of photos that "tinker" with the challenge subject, but this is definitely a welcome exception. Very clever!
08/12/2002 06:30:00 PM
Nice take on the "new" concept!
08/12/2002 12:44:00 PM
I was hoping someone would get New York in there! Great shot! I mean, heck, you can even see the ball coming in......it looks like.....a.... ball....definitely ball four!
08/12/2002 12:40:00 AM
Interesting interpretation, and I love the composition! lhall

I don't know how new the NY Yankees are...they been around since 1903. Unless you mean something like the "NEW" NY Yankees (Jeter, Clemens etc. vs. Ruth Rizzuto etc,) then that would be something totally different.
