I'm going to own up and let you know that I gave one of the conspicuously low marks. Now I have read your description, I really should justify it and apologise.

When I looked at this image I thought it was a still life - the 'static-ness' and the difference in the foliage colour at what appears to be a fixed point in the middle distance made me think this was a shot of an exhibit at a natural history museum. The background looks like a painting and the foreground looks separated and still. And overall the lighting doesn't look like daylight.

Now I've read your description, I find I have to reconsider my score.

Apologies again, but I thought you deserved an explanation.

I showed this image to my wife during voting and recalled a conversation with an art teacher when I was about 14 (normal school curriculum - I'm not an artist). The teacher was adamant that photography was a technical skill - not art.

He REALLY needs to look at this image.
