Brighton Lanes ... head and hat and glassesby casatigeoComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like the sense of life here and the quirky nature of the street scene. I also like how your eye has picked something out of the hustle and bustle and subjected it to photographic scrutiny. Without your agency we, like the passers-by, would have strolled past. That's what makes this image really - you pull us up, make us stop, make us look and remind us of the little details that make our macro-reality.
Critical stuff: Technically, it could be a tad brighter.
Overall: An interesting image- one that I'm glad I've given some time to. |

Beyondby ChikaZAWaComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: On the surface, this is an image that does little to impress - but somehow it really works. the 70's coloration, the precise composition, the 'casual' soft focus, the slight vignette - all the features add up and complement each other. Then there is the story - the gender and age ambiguity, thoughts of what is in the woods and the possibilities of the next few minutes in the life of your subject.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: I think this is pretty masterful - for me, you have transcended 'image' and have moved into story and communication. The technical choices are no accident, for choices they are - each made in deliberate service to the narrative you have crafted. Bravo. |

It's a Whatsit Bugby MaryOComment: Looks slightly bright on my monitor but there is no doubt that this is an excellent capture. |

Timelessby gsalComment: I do like this Gunnar - but I think I prefer these school images with your 'signature' high contrast look. |

Midnight in the Desertby tangueraComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A very interesting image - the way the light is catching the leaves and the deep, deep blue of the sky. Very effective. I even like the lens flare too.
Critical stuff: The top right quadrant of the image - I'm not sure what that stuff is but I'm not sure it's working for me.
Overall: Cool and unusual. I like it. |

Positives: This works really well, the focus is where it needs to be and the overall effect puts a smile on my face. I'm pretty convinced by your choice of black and white too.
Critical stuff. I think this could stand a tighter crop.
Overall: An imaginative piece of work - well received by this viewer. |

June Macro 1by KristinaGComment: Great composition - I know what you mean about the DOF. I keep meaning to try some focus stacking but of that relies on having a stationary subject. |

Calopterixby GiorgioBaruffiComment: Still a great image - does mirror up make a lot of difference? I will often use 2 second timer but seldom mirror up / live view.
Did you actively try to position yourself at 90 degrees to the long axis of the damsel so as to include it all in the limited DOF? |
