Aloneby Mwilton111Comment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is very well done, I love how the making of the letters has lit the scene and all of the questions you have placed in front us (each without answers). I like how, grass aside, there is hardly any colour in the image yet it is clear it isn't monochrome.. The writing itself adds a great deal of menace - its hanging-in-space weirdness (despite it being clear how it was done), the meaning of the word and what it means to whoever is inside and whoever is outside - almost like we are being invited to view the scene through the eyes of a potential killer...
Critical stuff: Nothing
Overall: Fascinating and powerful. |

Positives: Toning aside, there is something nostalgic about this image. I also like how unfettered it is while remaining crafted and purposeful. Strangely the image isn't without menace - like a representation of a visitation.
Critical stuff: Not much at all.
Overall: I really like this - despite its composition it feels uncommonly well balanced. |

Positives: What a complete delight! I can't tell you how much I like this. It exudes complete confidence in your art; the slight blur, the low contrast - shouldn't work but really, really does. The model, the balloons, the leading line of the water trench. All so beautiful.
Critical stuff: Nothing (of course).
Overall: An image that has floored me with its quality and subtlety. Just amazing. |

Positives:There is just something about this image that resonates with my brain. The rotational scratches and the 'spattery' marks that allude to centripetal forces creates a sense of dynamism. This sense should be smothered by the grey coloration but the light of the reflective metallic surface breathe life into the image. I also like how the grey has so much variance.
Critical stuff: More of an observation but you already know this image is unlikely to be accessible to all.
Overall: I think this is a confident image from someone who knows their way. Nicely done. |
