The Nightmareby Shanny403Comment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A well made image - no doubt about that; it will however make some people uncomfortable. Personally, I think that's a good thing! The stand-out eyes, slight grain and the lighting/vignette work very well together.
Critical stuff: The earrings - they rob the image of some of its power.
Overall: Very pleased to have seen this. I like unusual portraits and this is right up there. |

Positives: It's been a long time since I've seen a selective desaturation look this good. It is perfectly (and eclectically) judged and the tones in the background add considerably to the overall effect. Those browns and the blue complement each other perfectly.
Critical stuff: Nothing really
Overall: How to make gimmicky not. Excellent. |

Positives: This is certainly bold stuff; excellent clarity and I like the way we want to get closer and look over the wall and through the glass. I like the yellow lights (?) too.
Critical stuff: With such images I often wonder what, since the scene was there, the photographer has brought to the image... this does feel crafted though, so you must have done something. Whether it is enough is another matter.
Overall: An interesting scene, well presented. |

Positives: Smooth and subtle. This should be boring but somehow you've pulled off a magic trick and made it oh so very engaging. Very little for me to comment on, so ethereal is the presentation, my brain cannot readily grapple it, the image slips from my cognition.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all
Overall: Quite something from nothing. Well played. |

Positives: This is a complete Nixterish delight! The out-of-focus areas are fabulous, it makes for a really dynamic and actually cinematic shot. The colours are tremendous too - the deep red of the car and the various frivolity in the background.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Magnificent. |

Friends Foreverby AmmieComment: Brilliant and bold - that low contrast on the left should be ugly but is utterly masterful. |
