I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Some people will take this as a snapshot. I don't. This is comedy, authenticity, juxtaposition - the iPod shuffle, the Morrison's bag, the rubble-like cobbles, the burnt skin, the meditative pose, the stark sunshine, the girls behind, the clipped head. All marvellous.

Critical stuff: Nothing.

Overall: Perfect parody of so much stereotyping. Well done.

Positives: Amazing - I wonder if this is a jagar. The clarity of the buildings down the street is just wonderful, as are the textures of the cobbles. Then there is the figure - what is really special is how the bottom of her dress/robe follows exactly the line of the shadow - it pulled me forward in my seat to try to discern where she began and the shadow finished.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: Very, very strong work.

Positives: So much to look at here - the clouds, the hill, the city, the water, the statue (?), the puddle, its reflection, those marvellous trails.... the eye is led through this image quite wonderfully. And then we have the great light, the life of the moving figures and a nice bit of grain.

Critical stuff: Nothing really

Overall: Very nicely seen and made

Positives: Stunning, thoughtful composition, great light and an interesting story make this a bit of a stand out for me. I'm really fond of the glow too.

Critical stuff: I might have been tempted to clone away the cord on the left.

Overall: Compelling work. And a bit different too. I likw that.

Ha! The first version was. I then cropped to just the face without changing the nude gallery status. I'll amend.

Just checked and it isn't marked as a nude..... interesting.

Thanks for all the great comments and words of support in relation to the '1‘ votes. Although some people may have voted '1’ for the nude, I think it is just as likely to be '1' because it wasn't a strong enough sepia tone.

I won a ribbon with a nude in Black & White IV with no votes of '1' and think it was a more challenging image than this one in terms of its content. SO I've since come to the conclusion that I can't assume that 1s for my nude work are given just because it is a nude image - people may just have thought this to be DNMC.

Thanks again

Paul

Love the picture and the grain but the jpeg/sharpening artefacting (at least that's what I think it is) really detracts and distracts.
