Ha! Definitely hands off nude in that sense! |

spinby skewsmeComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Masterfully ambiguous, dancers, cyclists, a scooter, priests in cassocks, people on Segways - no idea (and a good thing that is too). The strong sepia works really well, as does the slight grain.
Critical stuff: Nope - I like the choices you have made.
Overall: An intriguing image. |

Here and Thereby MagnumphotographyComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I love how you made me read before I looked - steering my eye around your image with you crisp focus on the signs. I also really like the tri-partite nature of the image - the signs, the walking girls and the background scene. Great choice to go monochrome with this - it really adds to the feel.
Critical stuff: I might have been tempted to clone out the car bottom right.
Overall: Well seen, well composed, well executed. |

Positives: Such a pure and simple image; unfettered by superfluous choices or stylistic devices. Truly wonderful composition, great toning, excellent handling of the light and a great sense of being there.
Critical stuff: No
Overall: Perfect choice of monochrome. A really great image (I mean great as in significant). Utterly masterful. |

Positives: Lev, I saw this on 1x so I know this is yours. It's not going to stop me including it in this comment series though! What wonderful light - how it catches the dog's eyes is amazing; and their closeness - your two characters - is quite lovely. I really enjoy the 'through a window' framing too.
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: Delightful image. |

aweby FourPointXComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: An unusual image to take and therein lies its appeal - lives in the moment, a fragment of time from a very specific and under explored perspective. The bizarreness of the exhibit should dominate but the intimate portrait of the viewer is what grabs the eye - I like that.
Critical stuff: perhaps the colour saturation is a little high - I wonder how a slightly softer feel might look.
Overall: A highly unusual choice / viewpoint - I really like that. |

Understand now by NeatComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What a great silhouette and the ambiguity of the animal works really well. I really like the straightness of the edge - a wall? A roofline? Not knowing adds drama. I like the clouds too and how oppressive your treatment has made them become.
Critical stuff: The vignette will be a little strong for some.
Overall: I find this to be very effective. |

She's Leavingby GinaRothfelsComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Very nice vintage feel to the colours here, great light too. For some reason I'm particularly fond of the back of that chair - something slightly HDRish about it. I also like how minimalist the pallete is - just red and blue with the barest hint of yellow.
Critical stuff: Not sure about the Dutch angle, it feels a bit contrived for an image as honest as this.
Overall: Deceptively powerful - I like it. |
