This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Such superb execution of timing and focus is always compelling - you have it in spades here.

2. Perfect DOF - we have isolation of subject but with enough background context to ground the image within the wider environment.

3. Your image has a really pleasing colour palette too.

Overall, this is a standout bird-in-flight-shot.

1. Great mood - you can almost hear the urgent chatter from here.

2. Signature glowing monotones - I wonder if I will finally be able to replicate this now that I have a body without an AA filter?

3. Beautifully composed image.

Overall, I'm continually mystified as to how you get these shots John - do you have the power of invisibility?

1. Great styling, outstanding makeup and hair.

2. Really effective lighting too; really well controlled.

3. Effective spooky mood.

4. Wonderful compelling eyes - with just enough illumination.

Overall, I'd have liked it as much without the snake but I can see how it is part of the overall look. Imaginative and well constructed shot.

1. Pristine image. Focus and clarity are startling.

2. Really interesting lighting. Five sources? The four with gels and a kick light? The combination is likely shooting under UV!

3. Purposeful pose and great physique.

4. Compelling, commercial look.

Highly capable work.

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Gorgeous colours, gorgeous light.

2. This feels dark and light at the same time - it has a twilight feel that I enjoy.

3. Bold letterbox aspect ratio works well - hard at 800px but you've made a good choice.

4. I love how it is a landscape with no sky.

5. Often landscapes with prominent foliage appear 'crunchy' - not here, it has a glow about it instead.

Overall, compelling work.

1. What a compelling portrait - a character study if even I saw one.

2. There's more than a portrait here - a segment of life laid out.

3. The tones have a journalistic quality that I enjoy.

4. Bold composition, subjugating the portrait element.

Overall, a powerful image.

1. Lovely natural POV given her cross-legged-on-the-floor position.

2. Standout tones.

3. Nailed focus and a DOF that suits the subject.

4. Engaging smile and eye contact.

I do wish the eyes were taken back just a little - the look slightly over-brightened, but nonetheless I really enjoy this image.

This is one of my 9s - I like it a lot. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Great focus and depth of field - perfectly judged for the scene.

2. Excellent exposure and wide latitude tones - again perfectly judged, we see all but have sufficient contrast.

3. Extraordinarily cute child, bright, aware and seemingly well but with the juxtaposition of what appears to be a hospital context conspires to communicate a compelling story.

4. The through-the-bars shot is bold, it offers some distance and introduces some order that eradicates sentimentality - a bold choice given the subject matter.

Overall, conveys the compelling matter-of-factness I've enjoyed in nick_hinch's work. I wonder who shot this one...?

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Gorgeous coloration. Flat out gorgeous.

2. I really like the RKT blowing curtain motif.

3. The story of the foam mattress coupled with the title is compelling and slightly haunting.

4. The overall effect is relaxing and ominous. Not a combination of emotions that are often conveyed together.

Much greater than the sum of its parts. Lovely stuff indeed.

1. I really like how the photographic choices here are so visible, it creates a 'constructed' feel that I enjoy.

2. Perfect timing getting the sun there between the person and the building.

3. Perfect exposure time, just the right about of blur to add exactly the right amount of dynamism.

4. Wonderful sharpness of the buildings given a great counterpoint to the blurred elements.

5. Excellent low POV gives us a really interesting view and accentuates the shadows on the ground.

6. Stand out tones - superbly converted.

7. Great detail - the far guy, in the gap, below the sun - that's the crowning glory of the image.

Fabulous stuff. Right up my street. (Just as we see right up this one!)
