Doomsday Delusionsby Samantha_TComment: Oh yes - we get Doomsday Preppers here in the UK! I particularly enjoy the inept ones - who have a backpack, a knife, some water purification tablets, a fungi identification book and a route out of the city (oh, and some basic self defence skills!)
I like this image too! |

final journeyby tangueraComment: This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Another Johanna Ghost fabric shot - this one is very figure-in-a-dress-without-the-figure like; the fabric has great form.
2. I really like the contrast between subject and background; both photographically and in relation to the delicacy of the fabric and the monolithic nature of the architecture.
3. I like how it is nearly monochrome but still clearly colour.
Great stuff - I like how this is part of a series too - how it articulates with a body of work. |

1. Great street shot - full of life.
2. Beautiful rich coloration that does justice to the great light you have here.
3. A good story being told - I wonder what they are talking about.
4. Great management of exposure and use of your dynamic range - detail in shadows and highlights without compromising the appearance of having effective (and high) contrast.
5. Really good composition within the frame.
So much is right here - it's almost a photography lesson in a single image. |

1. Such superb execution of timing and focus is always compelling - you have it in spades here.
2. Perfect DOF - we have isolation of subject but with enough background context to ground the image within the wider environment.
3. Your image has a really pleasing colour palette too.
Overall, this is a standout bird-in-flight-shot. |

1. Great mood - you can almost hear the urgent chatter from here.
2. Signature glowing monotones - I wonder if I will finally be able to replicate this now that I have a body without an AA filter?
3. Beautifully composed image.
Overall, I'm continually mystified as to how you get these shots John - do you have the power of invisibility? |
