Dust to Dustby sprite777Comment: Such a gorgeous shot. It was a 10 from me but you should have rolled this out for a Free Study Blue. |

Giraffe Dreamsby jagarComment:
Awarded for the May 2013 Free Study, for the reasons identified below.
This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier).
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is my only 10 this month - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. What a fantastic POV - eclectic and effective.
2. Brilliant exposure in difficult conditions, excellent shadow detail without compromising the contrast.
3. That eye- captivating yet aloof!
4. The overall composition with the dog looming from the top right corner of the image.
5. That band of cloud, I love the way in transects the image.
Brilliant stuff. |

This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. I like unconventional portraits and this fits the bill.
2. Eclectic coloration that is really effective.
3. The strange and eerie mood brought about by the dramatic light.
4. The deep blacks - make the image almost like graphic art.
Very interesting image. |

1. I love how you've created an impression that you were waiting for this moment - tapping your foot as you waited for the not-so-speedy vehicle to come into frame.
2. Excellent spiky palm gives a sense of the exotic.
3. The trailer brings us back to earth.
4. The somewhat flat tones are perfectly matched to the mood of the scene.
Good catch. |

1. Beautiful image with loads going on.
2. So many birds to look at but that shadow bottom left makes the image.
3. I really like the figure too though.
4. The leading lines of the causeway is highly effective.
Excellent image. |

1. Not an original motif, but so well done that it feels fresh.
2. Perfect toning.
3. Great use of structure/local contrast - bags of detail but still looks smooth and not at all crunchy.
4. Brilliant contrast - I love those deep 'blacks'.
Great stuff. |

This is one of my 9s - I like it a lot. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. I like how you have embraced the shadows and how you have allowed it to confer anonymity.
2. The long, long legs and pointy toes - part perspective, part poise.
3. Bold use of the empty space above.
4. The inclusion of the shutter panels - I like those.
5. The open story - we really could overlay anything here.
Great stuff. |
