Celestial Clockby ososnilknarfComment: Top 10? Great job composing this image with the spiral focused on the upper left rule of third and the mountain along the bottom rule of third. I think this would ribbon if you could see the silhouette of someone standing on top of the left "peak" with their arms outstretched (which would suck to hold for the 1 minute plus time that took you to shoot this =). |

The Open Skyby gauravComment: I think DPC may not like this image, but I just love it. It has an awesome feel of an old photograph - with the vignetted edges and the grainy/noisy feel, and even the dust thing (?) in the upper right. It is so simple, but it feels very artistic (which is another thing I don't think DPC properly appreciates). Awesome image. |

Just before rain ...by soonComment: Nice use of slow exposure to blur the lights. Sorry, DNMC to me though - night sky doesn't cause the impact in this photo. The lights and reflection are cool though. I wonder what this would look like if tilted the camera down another third, so that the line of houses would be up on the upper rule of thirds and you'd see more of that rad reflection. |

A heavens city of 300000 starsby PascalComment: Truly amazing how many stars are in the sky. There is a statement by some astronomer at some time that if you point any direction to the night sky, if you follow a direct line from that you will eventually reach a star (even in we can't see it from earth). For the universe is so expansive, that there is an infinite possibility of that line hitting a star.
I like this, especially that you've captured this cluster so well, but I'd rather have the focal point off center. |
