Year of the Dragonby SamaraComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
This is a challenge to critique! I'm having a very hard time trying to decide what to say.
My initial reaction is that it hurts my eyes. It is being very hard to focus on.
I think if you had a less straight on approach, adjusted the lighting to accentuate the texture of the item and pushed it back in the frame it would be more interesting.
Even though I can tell it is a 3 dimensional object it looses some of it's depth, again because of the lighting and angle.
I'm going to assume you used a very shallow DOF in order to maintain the black background. While a good technique, it did eliminate some the detail on the end of the dragons snout and the front claw.
The little bit of green reflection at the bottom isn't too bothersome. A little post challenge spot editing would fix that.
Have you tried playing with the Contrast settings, and levels?
I hope this helps.

At the Altar of Free Speechby GeneralEComment: From the Critique Club
Oh boy,, I would get you wouldn't I! lol
As I said during the challenge, great subject matter and very fitting the topic.
I suspected at the time this was shot through a window, or a display of some sort. The line/cable down the left and that bit of green border upper left detract from the shot.
I"m not sure about the colour. On my monitor it is rather pink/reddish. A truer sepia tone may have worked better to give a period feel to this image.
I do like the crop/composition/border and use of a tall panorama format. Using that size and shape gives the feel of endless paper. It speaks to the need for ongoing dialogue and the dissemination of ideas.
I think I would have liked to see this with the typewriter keys being a bit sharper. The soft treatment on the paper does work for me.
If you want to work further with this image, get out the clone and sharpen tools!
I hope this helps.

An Unfortunate Cookie by thelselComment: Ahh,,, Photographically. Very good, I would have tidy up a bit. Removed some of the stray crumbs. A little post challenge spot editing will perfect this shot.
Conceptually, one of the best, if not the best of the challenge.
Well executed, lighting is fantastic.
It also helps that I share the sentiment, whether you were being serious or not.
