Stormy Canyonby pmichaudComment: I agree with Paul about maybe bringing a bit back into the shadows, just to give definition. Loving the ominous look though, especially with the bright and warm canyon rim carrying me through the scene. Message edited by author 2011-02-04 02:45:37. |

Stockyards viewby Yo_SpiffComment: This is the dichotomy I sorta talked about in the other shot- showing the two completely different scenes together, compressed and in opposition, works very well. Before and after, now and then. |

Desertby rooumComment: The fog does a nice job of making this feel like a scene from the past. Makes me think of the old photos of people uncovering tombs and everything in Egypt, and really conveys a feeling of history. |

Scotland 2001by hajekaComment: This one has such a perfect "vacation photo" feel to it, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It just feels so disconnected in time and place. The wider context is not provided for the viewer, and it feels like that context is provided by those who were there at the time, that this scene, this moment, is complete to them, and I am an outsider looking in, glimpsing only a bit of what they saw, having not been there myself. What this photo conveys to me is done so through lack of communication. It says more by what isn't there than what is, and I really like that. The topography is very nice, with the sweeping hills leading off into the sky, hugging the lake. Very nice. |

A Path to Adventuresby dahlinComment: Very nice find, indeed. The rock wall is just awesome. It looks fake at first, and really commands your attention. After I got over that a bit, then I started to enjoy the rest of the scene- the lush grass, the path, the trees. Might consider cloning out those people, since they're so small anyway. |

Benbrookby Yo_SpiffComment: Awesome trees, and I like the bw very much. I also really liked the presence of the person in the original.. it gives an interesting sense of scale, and a bit of a non-sequitur of sorts because of how dwarfed they are. |

My Favorite Place on Earthby sjhulsComment: Haven't been quite that far up into Wyo, but I'm hoping to make a trip through the Wind River range this summer. Wyoming is one of the places that a lot of people don't know much about, and it makes for great trips if you're not into cities. Gets a bit wicked in the winter though lol
Nice capture of the scene though; I particularly like how the trees really close in on all sides, enveloping the viewer. |

Mallardsby Bear_MusicComment: Perhaps not as spiritual as my geese, but very nice ;)
The setting doesn't look like what I would expect from your neck of the woods though... what it makes me think of is tundra, especially the way the pool seems somewhat on its own. |

The Edge of the Woods (Redux)by dahlinComment: Agreed- the painterly effect really does work well for this. The blurring of the grass bottom left is a bit noticeable though, and seems a bit unnatural since the other grass has a bit of texture to it.
This is a minor issue though. |

Barn and Wagon by GermaineComment: I liked the story you related in the comments-
Reminds me of when I first got my Fuji, which had 9.1mpix, and my friends were amazed as well. I remembered using an old Fuji that had 2.3 and thinking it was the cat's meow :)
Interesting roof on this... the colors almost form like a secondary composition within the shot. |
