The way the people don't seem to be taking a step really, and are silhouetted, gives a bit of an eerie feel to this. Faceless on the deserted beach, hanging in space.

I love the streaking veins. They almost appear to be bursting, traveling and moving out of the frame. That burning edge at the bottom brings me back again to the bottom, revisiting the explosion again.

I really like the simplification of form in this. The contrast has removed much from the photo. Despite the fact that nearly all of the details that constitute the human form have been removed, we still instinctively know and feel.

I've sat here, looking at your photo for several minutes now, mulling things over, and I'm still not really sure what this triggers in me. Lots of different things, I suppose, and I like that about it. An ambiguous yet loud image.

I agree with what Cory said, particularly about it being soft. It coul dalso be a slight misfocus too, but nothing seems to be quite as sharp is it should be in this, and that's a big big big part of action shots- you either need obvious blur or super sharpness.
The tilt Cory notes is there as well, but isn't as distracting to me because the horse is relatively vertical. However, having an actually horizontal horizon would enhance the sense of speed of the horse, so there is that to be said.
