Wow. What a challenge for me. Such a huge step outside my comfort zone. End result is a low-key, moody image that I hope will connect with folks. I'm proud of it, which is all I can ask.

The door, the man, the door, the man. My eyes keep travelling back and forth. Great image.

Just looking at that formidable door that oozes bad vibes I would consider myself lucky I'm ostracized. Powerful image. Good luck with the jury.

Perhaps the life of a grafitti artist. 6

I like the simplicity but it's a bit too contrived, IMO.

nice tones and light and an interesting amount of smoothness for such a gritty place. Title fits.

Very powerful. I like the 'simplified' pp'ing, and how the lighting off the door and the man mirror each other. Excellent balance and composition, except for that tilt...

I wouldn't know a piece of fine art if it fell out of the sky and hit me on the head, so I honestly don't know if this true to the genre or not. Irregardless, this is the coolest thing I've seen two thirds of the way through the voting. Nice work.

I love the editing on this. So dark and gloomy, but in an appealing way. I also love the contrast between the door and the person, the visual weight is on the door, which just further brings home the point you are trying to convey. 7

This could tell a story. It could be an example of social commentary of the day. Fine art? I'm not so sure. But as I struggle with so many of these images, I realize how subjective this whole subject is. I think I'll stick with my first gut reaction. 6 I like how the light above the roof of the doorway mimics the light on the guy's head and arms. Almost like the same shape as the doorway in miniature.

I really like the simplification of form in this. The contrast has removed much from the photo. Despite the fact that nearly all of the details that constitute the human form have been removed, we still instinctively know and feel.
