oversightby skewsmeComment: Growing up, I always remember seeing these guys in my various field guides and being frustrated that they did not range into my area.
Photographically, this is one of the most effective and cool uses of shallow DoF I've seen. The way the web almost completely vanishes, leaving the spider hovering, is quite the visual effect. Message edited by author 2011-05-08 06:45:13. |

back doorby skewsmeComment: The web actually looks remarkably like a deep space picture of the cosmos. Planets, galaxies and nebulae taking the place of dirt, leaves, and bits of the preyed upon. Or maybe there's no difference. |

constellationsby skewsmeComment: The lighting on this is awesome. Radiating web and harsh outlines on the legs and abdomen, great stuff. |

Candy by colorcarnivalComment: Brave going with a negative :)
It's a sorta sad looking flower, but the tree branches look really cool. The lighter and darker portions of the sticks, where they cross, is really neat.

watching the everglades burnby FourPointXComment: Wow, I never would've expected this to be your entry, Joe! (other than the whole Florida connection)
All I mean by that is I didn't really think it was in your style at all. In any case, very nice, and I'm glad you got some recognition in the comments, since this isn't the sort of thing that scores well in a FS.
The textures in the sky are very surprising and cool, almost look like an overlay. |

Along came a spiderby AbraComment: Man, this is a great shot! I hadn't seen it before, but you've captured it perfectly. The bokeh is nice, but the point of view is what sells this image, with the radiating web and the spider lurking at the center. Very nice. |

A time long forgottenby ace flymanComment: Best done of the "left behind"/nostalgia/sorrow that was type shots, but the cliche is still there and this hasn't completely elevated itself beyond that. |

Patienceby tomeComment: Hey, an object that actually belongs in an empty room! Amazing!
Cheekiness aside, this was one of my faves from the challenge. No suggestions, really. Nice submission. |
