Asian Gang Lifeby JulietNNComment: This was a top vote for me, sorta surprised where it finished. Great lighting, the smoke looks wonderful. |

The only oneby NeatComment: If this didn't have halos on the building, I would've voted it a solid 7, but the obvious editing there makes me lower to a 5. Interesting scene, nice conversion generally, but that edge really hurts things. |

I found an old waterpipeby HalldorIngiComment: An awesomely odd find. The only bit is I'd love you had stopped down more and mounted it on a tripod if needed. That foreground sharpness is CRUCIAL here. Consider your hyperfocal distance for shots as these. Great idea, great setting, great moment, just could increase the technicals some. |

Summer Hazeby Bear_MusicComment: I'm not inherently against blur, and often, I love it. My issue here is that there is no clear focus. Things are very cluttered, and perhaps that's what you wanted, considering your title. In any case, the grain feels odd with color, where it is less pleasing than in BW, and the composition leads one wondering where to go. |

Driftwoodby JuliBocComment: The usage of a graduated neutral ND filter on the sky or capturing an exposure for the foreground while also capturing for the background would have enabled a much more vibrant an interesting sky. |

I Don't Live Near A Beach... AKA by LydiaComment: Considering that this challenge was, in its description, expanded to include waterways and lakes etc, I have a hard time judging this beyond a shoehorn. At best, it's an attempt to make a stock shot where one was not needed in the least, and it is somewhat awkward in this respect, with the bottle of sand floating upon the "water." Things are believably set up if one were to ignore the scene, sure, but for such technical quality seen in the bullfrog, I'd wish this were produced in a natural setting, where the suspension of disbelief was complete and not so fabricated. |

time to closeby mitalapoComment: A nice silhouette shot, and more than that, a nice shot of folks actually WORKING on the beach. I enjoy this greatly, not just for its great difference in composition, but also in its realistic depiction of the beach. |

Message in the Bottleby youpeeComment: There is a halo that surrounds the top of the bottle. The premise is solid, but the composition and editing leave something to be desired. There is little sense of the greater scene, and things are very flat and lacking the oft scene sunset on beaches. This is not a pre-requisite, but it would improve this by adding some color and interest to the lighting. |

Pelican Itchby GeneralEComment: There are a lot of things holding this photo back. First, it's over edited, with the halos on upon the pelican, There is also an awkward element on the left side, and the photo is overall very flat. You have captured an interesting posture for the pelican, but have worked it entirely too much, eclipsing the subject matter. |

1 billion voltsby PascalComment: I'm horribly tempted to quote back to the future, but I'll not exceed 10ohms. A nicely capture lightning strike- Nice branching and great color control. My lightning is always insanely colored and horrible to correct. I also very much like how nicely the body of water is illuminated. Not, perhaps a beach shot in a traditional sense, but very nice. |
