Beetle on Coneflowerby MaryOComment: When I first saw this guy, I thought he had to be a member of Buprestidae, but I'm actually thinking he's a Hoshihananomia octopunctata. Can't see the abdomen in your photo, so you tell me what you think. ID link
I really enjoy the lighting. Like a really mellow spotlight for him. |

DSC_4556-hanna-rWby nivlekComment: I think these are one of the coolest flies I've seen. First saw one when Roz posted her pic. I like the "up close and personal" treatment on its head/face. It's cool you got a shot with the proboscis extended too. |

- S U S P E N S I O N -by myceliumComment: I like this one a lot too, but feel the others are a bit stronger, personally. Very different feel to this due to the nearly perfect sphere shape of the drops. |

Solitude and Peaceby cryanComment: The contrast, combined with the "busy-ness" of this scene, make it really hard for any single element to grab and engage me. It's just... there. |

The Waters of Marsby ambakerComment: I already said this comment about another shot... but it's exactly how I feel about this one too.

Downtown Houstonby ashishkushwahaComment: Almost through with voting, and this is probably my favorite cityscape. Much more interesting visually to me- the streaking clouds and the curving road, with the skyscrapers centering things... lots more interesting elements. |

The Girl and the Sea by LevTComment: This is great. Something about the pose being completely still, and peering out into the vastness with the swirling sea at the feet, really grabs me. Great job. |

Evolving Limitationby bspurgeonComment: I like the choice to not do a wide angle of the river. I like contrast of the texture on the rocks with the smooth water. Nice. |

Renovation Timeby MichaelCComment: This looks strangely dirty and clean at the same time. I really like this, quite a bit. An interesting picture of decrepitude of the common. Degradation of the mundane. Message edited by author 2010-06-16 02:30:13. |
