Goose Bumpsby gsalComment: Unfortunate that this wasn't more widely accepted, it's a great photo. I particularly like the eye of the goose, which is sorta lurking in the murky details. |

ISO? Aperture?? I thought I just had to click a button or something. by MinsoPhotoComment: I saw you post this in a thread and figured I'd give you a comment due to your own comments.
I didn't vote here, but if I did, I probably would have voted this somewhat lower, as well. As a general photograph, it is executed well, with a possible exception being the degree to which your bag is obscured. It's like a blackhole. However, if it weren't dark, the photo would look busy. This brings me to the main reason I would vote the way I would- This shot is, by its very nature, extremely unchaotic. It's quite obviously posed with a large number of props in a very controlled environment. Admittedly, there are other shots with various numbers of these elements to them, but you're not moving or doing anything in the shot. It's static. An example of how you could keep your theme and add something more dynamic and chaotic to things would be to make it appear as though you were dropping something. I also think the fact that you're looking directly at the camera really adds to this static feeling- it's a testament to the viewer that things are contrived, that you are aware of them as a subject, and that the viewer is not in fact glimpsing something in action.
Anyway, my point wasn't to be harsh or anything, more just that I can relate to the feeling of "what the hell?" after voting ends, and frustration without an end is simply aimless. ;) |

Border Cat (thought I'd try out that cool DPC border style!!!)by charliebakerComment: hahaha
Hope your comments have been good. A notable attempt at brown that may be foiled for the very reason that it's apparent.
You did an awesome job of making the obnoxious evil eyes pop.
The pose of the cat almost makes it feel like it's getting crushed between the borders as in a trash compactor. |

Dawn of a new beginningby fantacComment: Another commenting noted the loose crop, but I enjoy it this way. It gives a nice scale to the person, who is dwarfed by the light. The rays are very nice, but I really like the small presence of the trees in the background, as it balances the scene. |

Foggy Mailboxby grahamgatorComment: Nice atmosphere captured here, but I wonder if it would be more enveloping and come to life more if there was a bit less black and more of the light itself. |

Where the Wild Things Areby xianartComment: I like this one a lot, and while I appreciate and enjoy the grain, it seems a little excessive. The tilt of the head adds a lot for me too, adds emotion to the picture. |

Flowers in my windowby PaulComment: I think this is a really good example of the challenge, myself. The light is a powerful component but isn't an obnoxious and boring star flare either. Much more interesting. |

Time to Killby jjbeguinComment: Super underrated. Love the grain and variety of objects. It really gives you a lot to look at and take in. |

Cold Dawnby davidwComment: The low level lighting really adds to the atmosphere of this. I also really like the texture of the ice, as well as the glinting tips of the branches. |
