This is a neat shot. Try cropping it so the bird is off-center and see if that doesn't work even better...to add a little more interest. Also, I don't care for the border much but I never adjust my scores based on that.

I understand what you were trying to go for here, the contrast of the dark, reddish wood to the brightness of the flower, but it's not a very appealing affect. Maybe if you made the wood black and white or sepia tones and left the flower blue it would help but as it is, the textures just overpower the flower for me.

This is a nice animal portrait, very nicely done. He is, in fact, alone, but the composition of the photo doesn't really evoke that feeling. Your title also indicates that this is a Cold October Day but there is nothing in there that, without the title, would make the viewer feel cold or even realize that it's October. I like the shot though and the comments I gave do not affect the score I'm giving you. Just an opinion....

Fits the challenge ok and is well composed, but not a very interesting or thought provoking shot to me.

Beautiful colors and crispness. I like how the tip of the cactus melts into the blackness of the sky. Nice capture.

Nice shot. I like the grainy feel and the lighting making your subject almost a silhouette against the background. Would've liked him to lose the bag he's holding, but I guess there is a certain interest in it being there too. You can imagine the story here...this person coming home from the store...Shopping for one...a single bag of groceries...no one to cook for...no one to dine with...::sniffle::

This is a fantastic capture. The lighting is great and you have some really nice colors here. I loved scrolling down so I could see the whole picture and suddenly seeing that little donkey down at the bottom. Good choice in having him facing away from the camera and looking towards the mountians off in the distance. Doesn't get much more alone than this. 10

Lovely autumn colors and detail of the leaf captured. I would have liked the drop just a little closer to falling so that it looks more separated from the leaf, but that's really not that big of a deal.

I like your use of negative space and black & white. I think the crack in the cement is a nice touch and the fact that your subject is so small really emphasizes the idea of being alone. The only think that detracts from the shot to me is I can't really tell what the subject is. I think it's a bird (a pigeon?), andl this is going to sound like I'm a real goofball, but for the longest time while typing this, I thought it was a girl facing away from the camera and that dark shadowed area was her long black hair. LOL! Can I blame that on my monitor? Anyway, it's a great shot overall. I like it.

This has a very sweet, old-fashioned feel to it which is a great way to enhance your overall theme. Using the sepia tones is perfect for this shot and your cropping is right on. I even like the border since this reminds me of pictures the way they used to be developed way back when I was a kid. Nicely done.
