MINI Eby oldbimmercoupeComment: I guess this IS a "hidden treasure", but it's a bit bland for my taste. The lighting is pretty flat and the crop leaves some undesirably human collateral while removing part of the car that might have given it balance. 3 |

Far more than rubiesby littledeepComment: I think it's a stretch to call this a "hidden treasure". The bright lighting also washed out slot of the detail in the white elements in the shot. You might even notice that his forehead seamlessly blends into the background. I'm doubt this could be remedied in post processing, but some exposure compensation in the original shot could have brought it down. 3 |

In with the washby ahjennyComment: Ok, I get the "hidden treasure" in the shot, but the flat lighting really hurts this one. It's also pretty tough to make a washing machine interesting, although I've seen other mundane objects treated very well before. //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=747607
Mainly, I think this could have used some better lighting and maybe some brightness/contrast work in post processing. |

to see oursels as ithers see usby posthumousComment: I haven't used the word "shoehorn" at all in my commenting, but I HAVE to throw it in here. :-) I think including this in the challenge is a stretch (at best). In addition, I don't really know what you were going for in this shot. The reflections seem a bit blurry and the noise level is pretty high. Perhaps I'm just too ignorant to understand. (a distinct possibility) 3 |

Family Jewelsby robinssongComment: I'm not sure exactly what kind of score you were expecting on this one. :-) I think you'll get a lot of low scores for the "ewwww" factor. I think I have to agree too. The idea of this as a "hidden treasure" is debatable at best. In addition to the ewww factor, though, This could have used some better lighting, a sharper focus, and less noise. I'm sure shooting bats isn't easy due to the lighting conditions, but this could have used a bit more setup to make it better. A wider, off-centered, crop could have helped too. |

Treasure or TROUBLE??by DamzelComment: I think including this in the "hidden treasures" challenge is a bit of a stretch. :-) Other than that, this is a bit too much of a candid snapshot in my opinion. You might have been able to increase the drama with a different angle or a different crop. I could see a shallow depth of field shot that really drew attention to the "treasure" rather than the person. A bit of brightness/contrast work in post processing could have made this pop a bit more as well. 4 |

Black Pearl in Hidingby codfish709Comment: I think this works well as a "hidden challenge" (unlike most of the shots I've looked through). It seems that the focus might be on the front of the shell rather than the pearl, though. I think if you had nailed the focus a bit better, this could have been good. As a side note, I might have experimented with different crops to see if a more horizontal version of this might have worked better. Having said that, you may have already done this and decided on this one. I know that I get comments about cropping, and I've already tried many different crops and they didn't work for one reason or another. :-) |

hidden treasures of the gardenby disassociationComment: I always love insect photos. Having said that, I don't really see him as a hidden treasure. The contrast of the black on the yellow doesn't make it seem very "hidden" to me. It seems that you nailed the focus right on the right part of the bee, though. I'm sure I would have voted this higher on another challenge. |

bug in the codeby skewsmeComment: Hmm, I don't really know what I'm looking at. I don't know how this was taken or what the processing was, but it doesn't work for me. I really need to see something that's in focus to know what I'm looking at. 4 |
