This is just a question...does this person always wear that much eye make-up when they are tree doctoring? I come from a family of orchard owners and I've never seen a tree doctor wear any make-up or even have their clothes that clean. I think your downfall with me, is that I have experience and first-hand knowledge and memories to pull from so this shot does not communicate to me what my memories flash before my eyes. That being said, the profile is nice. The focus is inspired. I have a little problem with all of the pink, but that is where art comes in.

I like this. Especially since the kids are blurred out from motion.

This is an intersting shot. The facial expression does not communicate enjoyment or concentration. Nice action shot.

I'd prefer more profile or at least 3/4 of the face. It also seems oof.

This doesn't pop for me. Colors are blown and I had to rely on the title to figure out your intent. Environmental Portraits shouldn't be so abstract in presentation (not abstract in the art sense...I guess a better word would be obtuse) that you need a title to tell everyone what is going on, imo. My biggest problem is why would a relatively well-dressed young women be in scrap lumber yard? She doesn't work there, she isn't a run-a-way. If you're trying to juxtapose teen angst against an editorial comment on the "scrap" there are much better ways of doing that.

Everything is too blown out for my tastes. This causes me to not even give things the attention that they deserve. I guess that is why art speaks differently to different people.

The environment is clearly defined and is clearly defining your subject. Your subject is doing what he does in this environment. All elements of this challenge are here. I think your downfall is that Obama is such an animated speaker and this shot doesn't really capture that. It's hard, when your subject is so well known, to really capture what the public already knows about him. It's like he just finished something wonderful, or he is about to open up and let the personality come through. This shot is right in the middle.

The shadows under the hat are a little too low. You are losing part of that intense stare. And the stare is what draws me into this shot.

This is fun! The environment definitely defines the subject. The subject is obviously serious about his environment.

This just doesn't do it for me. Art speaks differently to different people.
