Essentialsby silverleafComment: This is a neat concept, but the photo is a bit dark (even the paper shows as dim). Maybe brighten it up a little (so the whites were white and not yellow), and slide the stack slightly so the mechanical pencils package stuck out a bit more (stair-stepping), which would make it easier to view and also let it get a bit more light. |

Color Erasersby kim100878Comment: Those are really cool and fun erasers, and I like the idea of putting them in a circle. That said, I think you've been betrayed by your image quality (and possibly your lighting as well, if you were trying to compensate for it being dark). This file is 1/3 the size it can be, and the image quality is very poor, with the transitions between colors harsh and colors blotched together. |

Back to Basics by moodvilleComment: I like this - especially with the double-meaning of the title. Basic math, but also basic (classic) images of school. Lovely composition, good rich colors - this is a great image to convey a sense of school and back-to-school. |

The No. 2 Pencilby EddyGComment: I'm sure you already know this, but I'll say it anyway - the sharp focus on the pencil is AMAZING. |

College Life - Engineering Homeworkby tfaustComment: I like the inclusion of the tools here, and the different shapes/colors/lines from the various objects. I do wish the page of the open book on th eleft weren't quite so washed out, though, and that the protractor was a bit crisper (the bright blue draws my eyes to it, as if it were a main subject, but it's not as crisp as the books). |

silent.... but not for long by Faye PekasComment: I really like the composition of this shot. There are a lot of compression artifacts on the diagonal lines, though - most noticeable on the leftmost bus (top of door, top of windows, line below the text and lights), but also definitely visible on some of the other buses.
This is such a classic school-related shot, though. |

Technology of Yesteryear by karmatComment: I really like this image - the sheer beauty of the scene is substantial - but it does seem to have a fair number of jaggies along the horizontal lines of the building in particular. |

Remnantby pncowleyComment: This is a great shot - a good time to center, and I like the stair-step effect you got from this angle, as well. The sepia tone works well with this subject and the crisp focus. |

Back to the age of black and whiteby johnmkComment: A great shot. Just enough space above and below to frame the boats, and you let them dominate the picture as they should. The lines are nicely crisp, especially considering that's without any sharping edits available. A hint of compression artifacts on the edges of the rolled sails, maybe in the water (not sure) and at the bow of the white boat, but fairly minor - not the kind that jump out of you. |

before e-mail by ursulaComment: The date and the choice of pen are a nice touch. Not sure if the pen really would have looked just that way or not (looks a little too crisp to me, but I don't know pens through history), but the feel of it is just right. This is great. |
