In My Hands
by JPR

Comment:
I like this, though I find it really hard to figure out where you actually are in the picture. Very disorienting. This is one I'd love to know how it was set up - it works really well. Like the framing with your hands.

The rear view

The rear view

Nice. I especially like that, not only is the rear-view reflecting you, your sunglasses are reflecting the road ahead. I do wish the rest of the picture weren't quite so glaring, but I wouldn't want it to be clear either, since the focus of interest is (and should be) on the mirror!

At candle light

The candle looks like something out of a classic painting, after the slow exposure, but it's lit you wonderfully for this shot - it works, and works well.

I can only think that posing for this must have gotten a bit old - I hope you didn't need too many shots to get this one. I didn't get it from thumbnail but this is wonderfully funny!

Awakened State (Self Portrait 1)

I like this one - it was easy to figure out what you'd done, but it doesn't make the effect any less powerful. The camera focussed more on your hair than your face, so that you're slightly softened, and yet that only - for the effect you are going for - makes the photo more powerful. A nice shot.

Self portrait with plants, grin and specs...

I'm not seeing a grin, but the plants and specs are definitely there. I love the composition on this one - the way you've framed yourself with the plant.

Nice, simple, sweet. I like the space on the left side that keeps your face from being overpowering or overpowered - a nice balance there - and the strand of hair hanging down over your face makes the picture, in many ways. Beautiful.

My Portrait

I like the contrast of colors, the green against the red, but they dominate the picture far more than you do. Your face is blurred and in shadow, and tinged by the adjacent colors in both directions. That may have been your intent, but I find it off-putting for the subject to be so - unsubject-like. The whole photo, really, seems to lack a focus, with the only thing not blurred in some degree being the brilliant but fairly undifferentiated green. My eyes "wow" on the green but they don't quite know where to stop and rest.

Is that supposed to be literal? I'm not seeing any reflections of you or hidden camera tricks, which is what I expected from the title. I'm not sure what I am seeing - they look like, perhaps, fake boulders, till you see what looks like a person-statue in the upper right. I'm not sure what I'm looking at a picture of, nor how it relates to you, in the end.

I like this. I'm not 100% sure even now whether I'm looking at you and someone else connecting, or at a mirrored shot; the angle to each face is such that it's hard to be sure, easy to see them as different, and yet in all probability a reflection. I love that, and the choice of black and white for this photo was a good one; I think color would have distracted, in this shot.
