...we told timeby FocusPointComment: Outstanding simplicity and lovely use of light and shadow. The fact that the timer is spotless and pin sharp is really impressive in a Basic challenge (I never have that kind of patience!) and makes the shot. |

Lettersby PGerstComment: Gorgeous toning that really makes this shot. Everything feels 'wartime' about this shot (as you no doubt intended) with great cues everywhere, from the key, to the stamps, to the photo and even to the handwriting. Technically the DoF, lighting, composition and tones are all perfect for the shot imho. Excellent work. |

Before the HMO's by notesinstonesComment: What's an HMO?! I love the low contrast in this shot which shows off the textures and shapes so nicely with the subtle lighting. The mortal and pestle definitely ties this together as an 'Old Ways' shot. |

Old Waysby choltmeierComment: Nice shot, but would I think have better impact if you had greater DoF to bring the whiskey into focus. |

Plodding along nicelyby LevTComment: Lovely shot - I really like the b&w/duotone conversion you've done on this because it really brings out the various tones. The DoF is great, pushing out the background enough to keep focus on the tricycle - and your subject has an interesting look on his sharp face. Nice. |

Just One Spark...by klkitchensComment: Personally I don't like the high colour border with the black and white - it's just too distracting. The shot itself provides lots of interest but isn't 'old ways' explicitly enough to score higher. |

Tri-Xby fotomann_foreverComment: Yeah baby...good ole tri-x with grain you could build sandcastles out of. Unfortunately I don't think digital grain comes across as well, but I get your intention. Very Lennon/Ono shot imho - I think I'd like this ungrained and lovely on my wall. |

Write to herby meneleComment: Lovely simple interpretation and nice execution. If I'm being nitpicky I'd suggest that the handwriting itself could be a bit more 'olde world' and perhaps elaborate to enhance the old ways feel a bit. |

On the Wingby jbsmithanaComment: Great shot. Really works in black and white. Also the only apparently non-Zoo or portrait bald eagle which is really refreshing to see. Nice context and excellent definition. Well done! |

Midair refueling with their daily breadby justamistereComment: Great shot. At first I didn't see the bread and was captivated (and impressed) by the sharpness of all the birds faces...then I saw the bread and it really made the photo. Innovative and well executed. |
