Quiet Day at the Dockby glad2badadComment: Very peaceful scenery. After a hard day's work, I feel that my eyes have rested for a while after looking at this photo. The calmness of the water, the perfect blue sky, the color of the leaves and branches, and the silhouette of a man sitting by a bench perfectly suggest tranquility. |

Light and Shadeby PixelstateComment: I like how the light touches the leaves. I like the blurred background. I think the trunk of the tree may have occupied a very large area that doesn't seem to add much to the image. I would have cropped it out and give emphasis to the leaves and how the sun shines on them. |

Female Purple Finch by rrdjservComment: beautiful image. i like the brown background. It complements the bird. Perfect focus. With respect to the challenge, I think this was an easy and safe option to meet it. Birds don't frown, nor squint under the sun. They don't get panda eyes. This is a very beautiful photo, with lots of technical merit. But it doesn't show how you were able to overcome the challenge of taking a photo of a subject under harsh daylight because birds really look good under any type of daylight.
Outside the context of the challenge, i really like this photo. |

An old family secretby gyabanComment: wow. it's just so amazing how you come up with ideas and translate them into photographs. This was one of my top choices. |

The pathway to the great theater Esplanadeby keeyewComment: i had a similar mid-day shot, and i found that the year-round overcast cloud in singapore seldom gives nice blue skies. i waited for sunset but this area faces south, and from your pov, the direction towards esplanade is east so at most i could get was some orange clouds, but no beautiful sunset. i waited till night and the lights under the bridge is an overpowering red that flood the entire shot taken at this angle. sometimes the light changes to very bright whites exploding even in the tiniest aperture. and the F1 night race lighting structures don't add well to the composition. the surrounding areas are nice and really pretty for photographs, but for this challenge, you had to take a photo of the bridge that didn't want to be photographed. Your photo was nicely done, and having known firsthand the level of difficulty involved in capturing this shot, plus the good overall technicals of this photo, i give you my high vote. |

Coryby Yo_SpiffComment: great shot. perfect backlight. going up the mountains, or any nature sanctuary, and getting up for sunrise or simply waiting for the sun to set, is one of my todo list top items for a couple of years now. i simply never had the discipline, but shots like this inspire me to at least try to do what great photographers do: get up and get out there, coz there's a nice scene to capture just waiting for me and my cam. i like this shot a lot. |

Five Forksby sfaliceComment: a lot of fork images in this challenge. but this one is among the better ones. nice rendering of light and shadows, effectively providing a good contrast. the border fairly complemented the black background |

Dangerous metalby fridjoComment: a crop at the bottom may have reduced the overexposed highlights. other than that, this is a very good take on the challenge. 6 |
