The Need to Readby neophyteComment: Contrast is low between the brick wall and the subject, which causes your subject to kind of blend in to the photo. Depending on what colours she was wearing, you might have been able to isolate those colours and increased the luminence, thereby giving more contrast... And that would be legal in basic. |

There are languages, then there are languagesby retiredPhilComment: Hello fellow geek! Unfortunately the crop of this photo makes it quite small. A good concept, but the composition doesn't add a lot of interest. It might have looked better if a selection of books were taken off of the shelves, and arranged in a pleasing way. Same concept, just more visual interest. |

Speak No Evilby kingskingdomComment: This is a really compelling photograph.. Emotive, gritty and dirty; not standard DPC fare. I'm guessing that you'll get a lot of 1's because many voters don't like 'ugly' photos. I hope my 8 offsets those a little. |
