I wasn't expecting a ribbon but being this is my first I'm happy to except it without question. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments. There was no special setup, no adjustment to light outside of metering the camera, the man made the image for me, I was in the right place at the right time to come along and capture his art. I tried to stay as inconspicuous as possible but with several thousand other people walking down this concourse it was tough. I backed up then fired off 4 exposures as I was walking toward him. The man was never aware of my presence, his focus was on his art and whether someone dropped a coin in his bowl. I did walk back and dropped a 5 dollar in his bowl. I will look him up the next time I'm in Hong Kong.

wow. I am blown away.

I have studied chinese calligraphy to a fairly high level and I believe I can say quite competently that his calligraphy is excellent. I have spent hundreds of hours writing and practicing with a brush and with my hand I cannot write nearly as well as he does.

The rest of the pic though is just mindblowing.

Wow.

Very inspiring. I liked how you did not over-emphasize the scars (the disability) but accentuated his ability.

I have felt such great emotion from this shot:-(
It makes you realise just how lucky most of us are!!
It also makes you stop and think about those that are not as fortunate as ourselves, and how they manage to get on with their lives from day to day.
This sure is a shot about language that we can all learn from:-)

Inspiring person..............

Not really sure on your cropping of this photo. It feels really constrained at the top. I feel it needed more room above his headm and to the left as well.......
