Angel by heidaComment: Congrats on another ribbon Heiða! After seeing your "from the camera" original, it is amazing how a photo can be totally transformed into something extraordinary by someone with the right "vision" in the digital darkroom. What a difference! |

Touched by the Evening Light by librodoComment: Congrats on the ribbon Manny! I'm gonna go against the grain here (and I'm sure even more people will dislike me because of it), but this picture just doesn't do anything for me. I'm not sure why, since so many other people can't believe how it awesome it is. Strange! Maybe it is because I found the moirÂÂé pattern in the veil, the shiny spot on her nose and "graininess" of her skin distracting? In any event, trying to understand this discontinuity between so many others calling this photo "perfect" and me not seeing it as anything out-of-the-ordinary is something I'm gonna have to think about, because apparently I'm missing something... But in your case, I would keep up what your doing, 'cause everybody else loves it! Congrats again! |

Lassie, Home Safe and Soundby phraid2002Comment: I think this headline would be better accompanied by a photo of Lassie's family joyfully hugging their long-lost pet instead of a "pet portrait". As a pet portrait, it's a great shot though. I'd just crop in closer, which would have the benefit of getting rid of the weed. |

All set for battle at Sepangby gwsallenComment: The empty stadium seats detract from the "realism" of this shot. Typically newspaper race photos will be zoomed in close, and cover either major events during the race (a crash, for example) or the winner. |

Euro 2004: Spain goes downby anirenoComment: Just my opinion, but I rarely (if ever?) see recent sporting events covered by "illustrative"-type photographs. They are always action shots from the game that include the players. |

Chili Peppers Rock London!by PixelstateComment: Except press photographer's usually have special passes that get them in front of the front row or even on stage so they can get pictures of the band instead of the crowd... |
