Trotby LadyKComment: Interesting pose. I like how well the color of the horse is captured, and that some detail remains in the saddle blanket and gloves. Consider cropping just a bit closer to remove some of the distractions and make the subject a larger part of the image. With scrolling and sizing the window, I can get part way there by trimming away the excess sky to just above the tops of the tents, just barely excluding the flowers and white box behind the tail, removing some of the sand (maybe going up 1/4 or 1/3 from the bottom on our right), and maybe just removing the flower box ahead of the horse (less confident about that). Not having a group of casually dressed observers in the background improves this compared to one of the others you posted from this event. |

Sepia Sunsetby jaysonmcComment: There's no classic reason to like this, but I do. Maybe because it gets at the essence of the sky and setting in a rather abstract way. |

Flying to the night...by hajekaComment: Good use of the bright part of sky and sunbeams to frame the flying seagull. Once I noticed the other bird in the surf, I started wondering how to get rid of it, perhaps with a judicious crop. |

Once Upon a Sunsetby tinky2Comment: Very elegant bird and reflection, with pleasing color transitions across water and sky. I think this could lose 10% from top and bottom and 15-20% from the right hand side and emerge with a stronger visual impact, but others may disagree. |

Into the Fireby JeffryZComment: I am enjoying how you removed everything from this image excpet the sky and birds. That elevates this to a higher artistic level and makes for an image that is easy to contemplate repeatedly. |

Winter... stage leftby Pipe_DreamComment: The muted puples, pinks, and blues of the sky and water might convey the challenge topic better without the person. Bright white jacket/vest and lighting of the ground and far side of the person make it more difficult to sit back and enjoy the natural setting for itself (realizing that many would find it uninteresting without the person). |

Oops Too Lateby togtogComment: Sorry to find the image just as uniform as the thumbnail suggested. I predict a low score from most voters. I'm just commenting, but I would deduct a point or two becaue this image doesn't convey anything about sunset or sunrise and has to depend on the title for even a remote connection. |

Yucca Skiesby BalkoComment: The spiky plants provide a stark contrast with the sky, with the simplicity making a nice graphic impact. The small leafy plant seems to break the pattern and makes me wish this could have been from a different vantage point. |

Splash Danceby ScholtenComment: Many elements of a classic seascape painting here, easy on the eyes even if not so powerful at grabbing attention. The water is captured very well. |

The Colors of Miami at Sunsetby yakatmeComment: Having so many different bright colors in the bridge and along the streets makes for a lot of competition with the sky. For me, the clash makes this harder to look at. However, the reflected tones in that expanse of water are very nice. |
