Wonderful subject, superb composition. On my (uncalibrated) screen the overall effect does seem a bit dark. The dark sky is fabulous but I wonderful if it might be wise to lighten the rest a little?

Unusual shot of a subject you don't see very often! The composition works in that we have the fence splitting the picture into thirds, but having the shoes off-centre doesn't quite draw our attention to them like it should. I think the focus is a wee bit off as well. I took the liberty of making this monochrome via the channel mixer in PS - I think it looks great with 100% green. Give it a try and see what you think. I'd suggest also a bit of USM with specific reference to the fence and the shoes.
