The Piperby cireComment: Great, but unfortunately the harshness of the lighting means the right eye is lost in the shadows. |

The Original Environment(ally) Male Portraitby JulietNNComment: Nice shot, Juliet - interesting to see you went for a different one, and here the duotone works nicely in your favour. The one thing that lets in down IMO is the flat lighting on the subject itself but the clouds are brought out awesomely for a basic editing challenge. Well done! (no vote) |

Peteby SaraRComment: Good shot, Sara. Lighting is well controlled and the tilted composition is nicely quirky. On a personal level the connection with the subject that I saw in a couple of your other shots is lacking here IMO. (no vote) |

Shaneby em3Comment: There's another image that's lit in a similar way and whilst I quite like the effect on the eyes, the overall flatness of the lighting really goes against you here, and everything seems too bright on the subject's face. I think the crop needs to be a bit less severe as well. |

Disabled manby kiskatComment: A very brave entry. I'm sure it wasn't possible but eye contact would have made the intensity of the shot almost unbearable - the idea of a connection being made one way but only partly the other. |

The Next American Idolby FallenAngel360Comment: A very nice idea let down by a lack of contrast in the subject's face but I don't suppose you could have had much control over lighting in that venue. I don't know if it's intentional but the title comes across as slightly ironic as the subject seems almost sullen and disconnected with the microphone. An interesting image anyway. |

"I EyE"by MotekComment: Enjoyably mad. The boat (is that a boat?) to the right and the well-controlled use of the sun in the frame are both nice touches. |

old manby nikonman2008Comment: I like this but there's something a little awkward about a candid where the subject is bang in the middle of the frame - I'd like to see him off-centre but that's just a personal thing. I think I'd prefer to see his face out of the shadows as well. Having said that, I think the candid is great and the expression you've captured is very telling. Well done. |
