It is only yourself.by caroleeComment: A lil busy, foreground exposure very high. Would wish for better focus of spoon/mirror. Shadow on right a bit distracting... yet this photo has a puzzling effect on me. |

Light and Shadowby scrooslooseComment: I can see the desire for a border, since the objects seem to 'float', but why in colour and bold?
The texture of the rose appears discernibly 'woven' and 'died', as I'm sure you know. The vase and orange, however, evoke a more primal idyll - a stunning one at that! I cannot help but regret an aesthetic discrepancy. |

Green Maple Leafby WILDBLUEComment: A 'pleasing' photo, true to life and technically apt. The composition contributes something to an otherwise potentially 'mediocre' subject and approach. Instead, because of such visible intricacies, I feel reminded of a certain bilogical matrix between all living things. |

Rope?by dsidwellComment: I almost dismissed this shot as a representation of three kinds of rope, which would have made for a somewhat more 'pedestrian' choice. Glad I clicked to view the real enlargement!
Good, simple composition, captures the essentials to make the shot work. |

Orange Autumn Leavesby Girl from OZComment: This shot would be difficult to crop, but the shadows are just too dark to reveal anything but ambiguity. The symmetry and expanse toward the horizon, however, remain worth telling. |

Orange Into Greenby bobgaitherComment: Potentially great shot with the expanse and wild texture of the shore runner, but the cobalt looks like an Exxon cover-up. :-)

Green (and brown horses)by jajoneComment: I'm rating this shot, coz I fear I may not do very well here. Yes, the sky is a lil washed out. Yes, the shot was taken at or near mid day and is overly 'sunny'. Yes, the choice of subject does not reflect any preferences for 'slick artificiality', nor is it in any way spectacular.
Yet, it portrays a disappearing idyll in an appropiately 'common' way, without any 'affect'. I commend the photographer for awarding us this rare pleasure. |
