The Harsh Effects of Winterby bmartuchComment: Good use of shallow DOF however I'd like the in focus stalks to be a bit sharper. It may of helped to increase the DOF slightly. |

Insideby darnokComment: Good colour and insteresting shapes. To me the area that is in focus isn't crisp enough. A slightly deeper DOF would help with this. |

Grumpsby soupComment: He looks more sad than grumpy. I think the DOF should be a little deeper to bring out more of the interesting shapes in the background. |

In the light..by SimmoniqqComment: Nice expression and I like the glow from the light though feel it needs to be softened a bit to prevent the harshness of the light on her face. |

One House, Two Houseby EstimatedEyesComment: Good job getting the image in the left droplet fairly sharp. The left edge though is a bit soft. A slightly deeper DOF I think would help there. Also, putting the branch on a diagonal rather than straight across would make the image more dynamic. |

Jack in Black... and Whiteby colorcarnivalComment: With playing cards, razor thin DOF still produces a sharply focused subject. On the downside, using the shallowist DOF possible can produce an image where the subject is disconnected from the rest of the image. This I feel is what is happening here. I think having the fingers more in focus would help connect the jack to the rest of the image. |

Stick together!by lowonenergyComment: Interesting shot though I don't get your title. I like bokeh generated by the shallow DOF however I don't feel a connection between what's in focus and the rest of the image. |

Morningby coryxmortonComment: I like the nostalgic feel of the image however feel the DOF chosen is a little too shallow. I think having the entire cup/saucer (at least the parts visible to the camera) in focus. Having a slightly deeper DOF would give definition to the background to show context and provide a bit more of a story. |

On The Islandby deblurComment: I like these type of shots. Even though the bloke in the background is OOF he is engaging the photographer. The foreground fellow is nice and sharp. As far as placement in the frame I think the space on the left puts the image a little off balance. Cropping to a square I think would work well here. |

Gentle Whispersby aimeethetooComment: I like these glimpses into the centre of flowers. The DOF is just right, showing detail in the middle and slowing softening as it reaches to the outer petals. |
