The bird looks a bit out of focus. Nice colors.

Nice framing of the seagull under the wing. Too bad the wing tip is cropped. Good timing. It looks like it's water skiing.

I really like this shot. Congratulations on honorable mention. I didn't vote in this challenge, because I entered it, but I just wanted to make a point that the missing "h" in the title may have cost you a ribbon (about .015 point). Maybe it's not fair for a photography competition, but I usually deduct a point for a title typo, figuring it shows lack of care.

I agree the sky is blown out. The blue on the sides indicates a polarizing (CPF) filter would help give more contrast in the sky area. Not that it's noisy, but why shoot at ISO 1600 and F11 when you don't need much DOF? Drop down to ISO 400 and F5.6. The cliff on the other hand is a bit underexposed. Maybe ryand's suggestion to underexpose the shot and brighten the foreground would help. There is some light fringing around the point indicating over-sharpening.

Kendall,

I see you've been registered for nearly 3 years and this was your first photo submitted. I'll have to assume you are one of those that just likes to look at photos here and maybe vote, but you came across an amusing situation in life that matched a competition and you decided to share it with us. Nothing wrong with that. Welcome to the contributers, and feel free to submit any time you want. Please don't take any of the comments personnally. They are just critiques of the technical (and taste!) aspects of the picture and though you have a decent camera (based on the looks; you have the highest rated, and only, photo submitted with it) you may not have good editing software.

Congratulations Enzo. Looks like I'm the only one who didn't get it, and maybe that's why I usually don't make the top 50%.
