gangstaby nomad469Comment: very gangsta portrait - dark, angry and rich too it seems. The backlight on the right is so much brighter than the rest of the lighting, it has become burnt out of detail - and the rest of the photo seems a bit dark, could be a tad brighter with a bit more contrast. |

Water Lilyby oe8ydqComment: Lovely burst of color and detail out of such rich darkness. |

Floatingby kris11Comment: Love the golden glow of sunlight on the mist above the water - the trees point like an arrow in the direction the balloon might go. Good color, composition, detail. 8 |

SwirlPoolby NeilComment: The sharpening, dodging and burning have turned this photo into painterly art - but it moves better than oil. The swirl is marlvelous in the bottom third of the composition - balanced nicely by the white rush of the falls and the shadowy leaves above. Maybe a bit too dark on the top right. 8 |

Ghostly Outreachby SherwinJamesComment: Lovely combination of colors - the stark white against the bright blue wih touches of yellow. I am trying to decide if I like the lack of focus - really the only things in focus are the tip of the left-most petal and the yellow tip of the pistle. The composition in wonderfully dynamic - bursting out of the top left corner and therefore the image works as an abstraction. But I do think I'd like more in focus nonetheless. 7 |

Unable to Contain it!by TlemetryComment: I like the symphony of reds and the lacy background is very pleasant. The lighting feels very flat - better addressed when the photo is shot, but can be played with in post processing using curves, selective colors, shadow/highlight or some combination of the three. The crop on the left feels awkward to me - I'd rather see the jelly beans flow past the boarder of the photo on the left AND the top or have lacy space on both sides. |

Olympic Morningby charliebakerComment: I like the layers in this composition - the near green foreground with the goats, the bluer midground, and the distant snowy peaks - the photo is a delightful visual journey. I'd like a little more foreground to anchor the picture better - sort of a virtual place for the viewer to "stand." |

Moonlight Pastoraleby skewsmeComment: The theme of unreal suffuses the image. The colors, the light, the juxtiposition of the elements (the BACK end of a cow?) and the post processing all act to unsettle the viewer. The sky is particularly odd - some weird storm a-brewin' - all very perplexing, but also entrancing. One asks, what? why? and looks at the picture again... and again. |

Harbor Stormby ShutterHackComment: The whole photo is sharp and brilliantly edged like the lightning - I think the bursts of light from the buildings and ships work very well. The masts in the foreground are a bit distracting - especially with the halos around them that must be either from sharpening or shadow/highlights or the like. |

Ask Aliceby pointandshootComment: The photo is just amazing all by itself - but the title is the icing on the cake. What a mysterious and compelling world you have discovered! Great color (cool blues and hot reds), focus and composition - you've made a macro into a landscape. |
