Get Off My Backby yakatmeComment: Nice capture. With all that algae covering it it looks like a creature from an old sci-fi film. The composition is nice and uncluttered. I'd like to see the focus a bit sharper in its eye. |

What's that sound??by lkn4truthComment: I love meercats. This shot illustrates part of what is so fascinating and endearing about them. I just wish you had managed to get a catch light in the eyes of at least one of them. I know this is hard because of their deep set eyes. You could hardly be expected to have managed an assistant to hold a reflector near them :D. It just seems a bit fuzzy near their faces and isn't engaging me as much as this subject generally would. Nice effort! |

Predatorby joycobbComment: Poor birdie! My mom has a cat that even in her dodderage (she is 13) manages to bring down a squirrel or two and has even at one time killed a crow. This certainly counts as wildlife to me (albeit dead wildlife). I wonder how you're doing in the voting? Some people might nitpick that the bird isn't in a natural environment. I'm guessing there are some bird-loving, cat-haters who will vote this down based on an emotional response. I like it though (I'm a bird-loving, cat-lover). It is well done and rather powerful in an odd way. |

My Wife.......and she can Modelby hdogg4uComment: The people milling about in the background (at a car show?) take me out of any fantasy to reality element this might have but points for a well executed photo. |

Everwinterby dw_photoComment: I don't know. This seems like shoehorning to fit the challenge. I think if there were less shadow and more sparkle and light eminating from the snow on the trees this scene would appear more magical. This just doesn't stand out for me as an extraordinary view of snow. |

A Man, His Fantasy, and 31 Actorsby CutterComment: This is stretching the boundaries of the challenge but it squeaks by in my opinion because the idea is very clear from the photo (even without the title).
I'm willing in this case to accept all the faces on the promos as a crowd since the use of minimal DOF has effectively isolated the man from all those faces peering out at the viewer. Clever. |

Faith Aloneby muur88Comment: This is a nice portrait but the background is too blurred for me to get a sense that this man has been singled out from a crowd. He could be on an empty street for all I can tell. |

Girls Clubby lytaComment: Crowd? Am I the only person that needs more than one or two other people for a crowd? This is a nice portrait and you have isolated a subject from the background but there was more to the challenge then that--you were supposed to isolate a single subject from a *crowd*. One other girl does not make a crowd.
"Drop your fear of candids this week and single-out a person in a crowd as your source of composition. Use minimal depth-of-field to your advantage to help isolate your subject, and as always, be creative" |

Confidenceby tjmuellerComment: How is this a crowd? The main subject seems to be isolated by color rather than minimal DOF. This shot seems to miss the point of the challenge and I just don't think it is very good. |
