Silent Sentries After the Wildfiresby boomerComment: I thought this might be yours! Didn't have time to comment during voting, but I like this idea because every other tree picture I looked at, I kept thinking "wind in the branches" - which isn't silent! The branchless stubbs made me think "Yes - silent trees!" :) I think it might have done better if you could have gotten the trunks at the top of the peak more prominantly in the shot. Better luck next time. |

Totemsby zeuszenComment: Tough. My first thought is of the sound of the wind in the empty trees. But I suppose I can see a more abstract sense of silence - the silencing of the life they once had. Very nice, striking image. 7 |

cannot screamby carodaniComment: Why not? I think if I could figure out what that is, I might give this a top score. But as is, it loses just a bit of the edge. All the technicals are good. 7 |

"Silenced" Alarm Clockby DrakeComment: I think a more natural setting would have had more impact - a night stand with the approriate stuff in the background. As it is, it lands a bit to far into the staged look to have the humorous impact it could have. Other than that, well composed, lighting's a little stark, but ok. 6 |

Watertownby mannenComment: Tighter crop or zoom on the brighter section of the photo might have worked a bit better. |

Touch the Airby adrenalindreamComment: Nice idea. Woulda been cool if you had better clouds - the effect of a cloud cupped in the palm of the hand. Might be worth revisiting this statue some time. I like the curves and the contrasts of stone to sky, dark agains the light blue. |

The edge of waterby torrenzanoComment: A tighter crop would have worked better (assuming you had the option to play with. The trees at the top, particularly the near-center one, are distracting and don't add anything to the theme. |

The Tao of Earthby brett2004Comment: The best fit I could find without spending so much time as to deny other photos consideration was this: //www.newage-directory.com/fount.html. Close? Juxtaposition, yielding and firm. I suppose I can see that, though not convincingly so. Lighting and background seem to conspire to draw my attention to much from the main subject. I'm curious which came first in this instance: did you envision this image and seek it out, or did you observe the scene and draw the inspiration from that? Not sure that it matters - each has it's place - just curious. |

Arctic Furnaceby becloComment: A more organic form for the ice would have given more depth to the image. |

Be boulder with waterby MikeOComment: Very interesting contrast. Usually you expect darker rocks on ligher, reflective water. Makes you take a second look. Nice. |
