Take, eat; this is my bodyby OculusComment: I was expecting this theme, and I am pleasantly surprised by the way you performed it. I fear that some voters will think this one is too dark, but I love the lighting. I see some minor issues with IQ (wrinkled shirt, some noise in the background), but nothing that bothers me. Great job. 9 |

Irish Soda Bread bokehby snafflesComment: I like the detail and the texture here. It is probably a tad too dark for the DPC crowd, and I personally would have liked to see a slightly deeper dof. Nice overall result though. |

Today's Special: Open-faced Vegan Grilled Cheese Sandwich (aka: Toast)by geinafetsComment: I like the setting and I can see it's been setup with care. I think it is a bit dark overall and it seems to have a reddish cast on the right. Furthermore, I am not too fond of the crop on the right. With circles, I either think one should leave them intact or crop them rigourously. Cropping of a small part of a circle makes me feel something is missing, but maybe it's just me. |

Looking Beyond the Carbsby got2bgutsyComment: I like the idea, and I like the fact that the kid seems to be taking a pic with the bread. I think much could be gained by improving your composition though. There seems to be no specific reason for the square crop here, whereas the upper part of the image has no function wahtsoever. Using this composition, you place the eyes in the center of the picture, rather than at 2/3, where they would fit better imo. On top of that, you crop off both hands fairly tightly, as well as the reflection of the bread. Why not take the bottom of the bread as the centre of your pic, creating symmetry, with the eyes both on 1/3 and 2/3 of the picture? Or crop this one to a landscape pic, in the meantime getting rid of this disturbing OOF crum in the front and the empty space above? |

Sunset Over Crontonby WendyWooComment: I agree that it is too dark, too much detail is lost. This is because your camera adjusts to the light of the sun, which is quite a lot. Next time, try waiting until the sun has just disappeared. You'll still have the great colours of a sunset, but not the bright sun. Other options are overexposure or bracketting, and then use HDR software. |
