Ice Caveby JumboJimComment: Excellent tones - that movement through blue from black to white is very fetching. Some sense of feel, but overwhelmed by the impression of a fantasy winter landscape. Good work. |

Old feather collection.....by tolovemoonComment: Great texture indeed - I doubt that slight banding visible in the spines of each feather is avoidable in a digital image at this resolution. There seems to be just a slight variation in focus through the image - not like a shallow dof at all, but things in foreground are just drifting out of focud, which when its such a small amount is perhaps a problem, and the overall set-up is confusing, too disorganised, maybe. |

3D Study in Orangeby kayceeComment: Interesting image - though I wonder if it isn't more about the set-up than the photography: that's certainly where the art is here, the photograph is just a good representation of that. Difficult teritory perhaps, but actually as photography this lacks something for me - which is any sense of texture in those spikes, mainly. |

Pop Me...You Know You Want Toby lizzyc3Comment: Good work on lighting, good rhythmic composition, but lacking some sense of real interest for me. Good detail too. Black and white useful to concentrate attention on texture rather than other areas. |

Potpourriby spydrComment: Quite a good go at shooting a scene which includes a light source: the balance between that and the ambient light is quite good. That interaction of different colour temperatures allows us to see the textures, without losing detail. |

Big Footby johnnydComment: Seems to lack the detail needed to really communicate a sense of feeling. Quite possibly that is because of the light - there just isn't that progression of light and shade needed to produce texture in images. |

Swirlby amsmythComment: Interesting pattern, little sense of surface texture. I think you've lost too much fine detail for that reeally to show through. |

Showin' a Little Legby MrsFuzzButtComment: Excellent work with lighting, really evinces the textures here. Compositionally a bit odd - placing that leg dead centre upsets the blance of the image, and makes the other leg look like it got in the way, rather than featuring it. |

Golden Ropeby agwrightComment: Sparkling effect of direct light (flash?) is quite pretty, and gives a sense of shininess, but I think the addition of some kind of side-light would add a sense of depth and therefore a more convincing sense of texture. Good rhythmic composition, no distractions. |

pine up closeby urmigComment: Tonally quite good, and good definition within the field of focus. A shame you've had to include so very much of that badly blown out sky to get that, as that area holds so mich attention, perhaps due to the interaction of those colours. |
