Oy!!!by SaraRComment: This angle shows off that magnificent beak. Crop, focus, and background are perfect in this one. It's interesting that these birds are almost all black and white except for the beak and legs. I don't think I have ever seen one live, because they don't range this far south. Thanks for the good portrait view. |

A Study in Blueby vawendyComment: Wow, your robins got so cold that they have started turning blue!
Sweet shot Wendy. The blue flowers and vase take it out of the normal "see the bird" image group.
I wonder if this is existing light with fill, or if you had a flash overhead plus fill? |

postmoderismby dvanwolvelaereComment: This is pretty interesting, having the repeating groups of lines, and the two characters in the composition. There is much to see in this one. |

Oh, Helloby JuliBocComment: Wow Julie, the voters must hate millet. This one don't have that face grabbing contrast, vivid colors, and tight cropped single subject content that gets the big DPC votes though. As a birder, I can see what you liked about this photo, and I like it too. |

Balloon Bumpby pmichaudComment: I was there the year before this one. You were in the right position and ready when this happened. That's what I would call a "high pucker factor moment" for sure.
Ballooning is totally backward from flying in an airplane. You take off with the machine on fire, not knowing exactly where you are going or when you will be getting there, and usually land where there is no airport. |
