"Dirt" Poor...by sfarrell23Comment: The world is an unfair place. Good subject. The strong sunlight is a problem, but no way to control that when shooting on the run outdoors. The whole scene is necessary to complete the story. |

A Dirty Canvasby kausikmpiComment: Dirt Filter! I've been wanting one for Christmas! (like a polarizer, except it gives this effect)
Except for the vehicles, this looks like a pic taken in a coal mining town in the 1930's. Gritty looking place with the subdued light. |

untitledby philupComment: Looks a lot like my hands at work. I build and rebuild machinery for veg packing plants. It's really difficult to clean it out from under your nails if you get dirty daily like this. The thumb nail needs some under it. Good lighting, good subject, fits the challenge theme. |

Fencing in the dirtby XileboComment: I'm curious about the rock pile. Nice composition, and right exposure for the scene. The fence top being the dividing line between the stony foreground and the smoother background may cause some people to fuss. It doesn't bother me. |

The Day Life Beganby ShmeeComment: Good graphic with the light trails, and the light under the dirt. The light just seems to zap the life into the soil. The fogginess behind the plant is a plus too. The only flaw I see here is the bright spot under the leaf disturbs the contrast balance in the dirt at that point, where I feel it should be dark to enhance the border between the dirt and the stem. Still a "grabber" of an image concept. Big 8, almost made 9. To me, this pic would be a strong contender, even without a title. |
