Full moon risingby MinsoPhotoComment: Looking at your shooting info, iso100, .5sec @ f4.5? The moon looks like maybe iso 100 1/500sec f 4.5. At the settings that you posted, the moon would be overexposed, unless you were using a neutral density filter.
The dark halo may be from using too much highlight reduction. That happens with my shots too, and I have learned to watch for it when processing images.
To get better overall sharpness for a moon shot with foreground, a much smaller aperture value, like f16 would be helpful. That would increase the depth of field, which is pretty narrow with a 300mm at f4.5.
Welcome to DPC. I have learned a lot about shooting here, and I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have. |

Night Commutersby citymarsComment: This somehow reminds me of the movie Utopia from the 1920's. It's the architecture and processing as well as the general scene. Nicely done image which has a lot of details in the details. |

Ice cold Artificial Moonby Nadine_VbComment: This is very creative, and also artistic. I like it.
You can shoot the moon with a tripod, that 300mm and D2x very nicely. Try iso 200, 1/350, f8.
Here's an in camera double exposure with a 70-300 D ED Nikkor.

Watercolorsby cginoComment: Wow, That's crazy cool processing. Very artistic of you to even think of doing all that, and the result is impressive. The hand would look fine if you painted it holding something of interest. |

Tyler-Jac-and-Cy.jpgby IvoryComment: I like the way the sky makes the guy's faces look bolder, and the girl in the middle has her features softened somewhat by being in front of the jacket. I also like the way all three are looking into the wind. I see the 4th face peeking from the shirt collar. |

Point & shootby Yo_SpiffComment: If this is spontaneous, you were ready, and had killer timing to capture it as it happened. This is great with the title. |
