With another couple of shots, one from the front, and one from the side, you could make a very cool triptich. You have your "bird studio" shots honed to an art now.

You have very good lighting for this. The detail in the feathers is impressive as well.

That's a very cool looking half wink. The detail in the feathers and eyes is enhanced by the totally OOF BG and the high contrast. The one ear snuck out of the photo a bit, but I had to look for a while to notice that. The eyes have it.

This makes a very good subject, and the angle and range that you shot it from gives it a sense of dimension. The exposure is just right too. Candles can be fascinating, and you captured that with this shot.

I would have probably shot this in color, then tried processing to B&W first, then maybe add the sepia after that.
I don't know what program you are editing with, but even in basic challenge rules, you can adjust B&W quiet a bit. Try sliding the saturation all the way down, then play with the color sliders, and watch how the image changes with each slider. You can also do a lot with levels after moving the saturation to zero. It works like using deep colored filters with B&W film, ie, a dark red filter makes the blue sky and clouds look nice with B&W film, a green filter helps make skin contrasty and better defined.
Composition and subject are good in this. Keep shooting, and posting.

I think that the lay of the clouds makes the horizon look a little out of level, even though on close inspection, it actually is level.
I remember seeing the effect that you mention in your comment when I was up there on vacation in the summer. The processing looks a little hard, but that makes for a very moody looking scene overall, which is ok with me.

That's pretty brave to enter a P&S image in a best of challenge. I like the color spread of the foreground fire light and the deep blue of the sky in this. Glad you got to go there to get this shot. I was at Little Torch Key later that week for the sport lobster season.

This one grabbed me too. I can't see why it didn't get some 9's and a few 10's. More saturation in the green plants would probably have helped DPC wise, but not actually helped the shot for it's honesty, which is the best thing about it to me.
