Burning and Bubblingby colorcarnivalComment: Well, I didn't score in this challenge.....nor, did I get around to commenting much, if at all...can't even remember now as it's been a busy week. I do remember seeing this shot and now, (post challenge) knowing it is yours and thinking that I liked the textures to it and the detail. The shine vs the matte texture of the flower petals was a very nice contrast.
I think that perhaps, I'm thinking too deeply but, what I didn't get (even now) was the soap bubbles around a flower??? ROFL (at myself) here. However, it sure as heck is a pleasing shot photographically and technically it has a lot of very well done elements! Congrats on that because capturing those bubbles must have been very difficult to say the least but, you did it so well!
Obviously, though it was a pleaser for voters as in this day and age (not days gone by at DPC) 5.5 is a wonderful score!!! So, congrats on that!

Chrome ladyby Yo_SpiffComment: Steve,I found it pretty interesting actually! I guess from the artist side of me, I see an artistic shot rather than the technicalities and this one hit me on the artistic side which really made me stop and look at it a lot more than some of the technically brilliant pieces. To be perfectly honest (no disrespect intended to the ribboners at all)....I actually thought this was FAR more meaningful than the technically well done winning shots!
I'm afraid that being in here can be dangerous to artistic flare. It trains AGAINST it in a lot of ways. Our eyes are being trained to look at a photo for technical aspects and esthetics rather than anything really artistic. You have an artistic eye. Keep it that way. DPC'ers will eventually evolve! ;) |

To Observe Manby colorcarnivalComment: You know what? I didn't know that this shot was yours of course and I really liked it! I didn't comment but I liked it. The reason being, I kind of thought that the actual man in the shot could have been the bust itself. It was kind of an "eerie" second in time that you caught this!
Steve (Yospiff) made a great point about JPEG overcompression in posting. Someone else told me about that as well. I didn't know that before. Takes a little fussing but, it works well.
As for the last of these comments...well, just my own opinion here....certainly not coming from YOUR mouth..., it's mine....but, I'd say that this person needs to wake up and learn to comment helpfully or stop commenting! :) She really needs to take a good look at her own portfolio before she makes comments like those! LOL

Native Cu (copper) Oreby AlainComment: Certainly fits the challenge. But, the contrast is too much and the focus just doesn't seem right??? |

Sby GeneralEComment: Hmmmm...not sure that I am a fan of the colouring to this shot. Had the constrast been upped a bit, it might have had more wow factor??? |
